PLus minus could have something to do with the teams they play on is Nurse team higher in the standings? Severson is +10 was +43 last year with 50 something points and hasn't been a minus player since 09 when he only played 5 games in the WHL - blizzzard
Yeah the Hounds are one of the best teams in the OHL and that's why I don't rely on plus/minus too much. At the junior level I suppose the drop-off from top prospects to average junior players might be substantial enough to expect them to break even. |

Yea seems to be a lot of complaints going around. No Domi, Poirier, Brown, Nurse obviously, I don't know what I think of Fucale everyone seems to think he is the next great goalie but I don't think he has ever looked fantastic to me. Leafs didn't Make Reilly available, Monahan injured. I am just hoping we finally win gold again and maybe it needs to be a team with a few of the better guys left off to finally win it as we basically sent the best we possibly could last year and that was just horrible. - blizzzard
(frank)ing Shinkaruk made the team ( 5 goals) ahead of guys like Brown, Poirier, Domi etc. Just awful! |

And some people around here were ready to give up on him. I'm glad to see that the offense is coming to him now what he's got a role. He may still have a future as a 3C!
Also kinda nice to get a first hand idea of how long it takes some European players fully transition to the NA pro game. We may be waiting a while for Klefbom, as well. - MaximumBone
He just needs to play with competent players I suppose. In the AHL the past couple seasons, I think he mostly got stuck with checkers. And in the NHL he's played with Petrell, Jones, Eager etc., guys who aren't exactly going to help you on offense. |

Shinkaruk's probably just going through a cold streak though. His past two years were good enough to prove his ability. |

I mean I know you might not be as excited about the Ekblad pick but he was granted exceptional status for a reason and he is a game changer who I have seen play live and I am pretty damn excited about McDavid hopefully he puts on a show I get to see him jan 9th vs the colts and I cant (frank)ing wait lol |

There were goalies performing better at camp, but the selection team insisted on starting Subban. |

I've only watched Ekblad a couple times. My impression was good but he looks like he has an awkward style. He looks like a hunchback when he skates? Is that just his style or what? |

I saw Shrink live again last night. He was awful. Weak on his skates and constantly falling down. He looked very average. And was not even close to being the best player on the ice. |

Apparently he's playing through an injury, hip injury which sucks for a player who relies on speed. He started off the season fine, but has sucked(by his standards) since he apparently got injured. Sutter is a big fan of his apparently from comments he's made about him in the past and also selecting him despite the recent slump.
Surprised Nurse didn't make it. |

I don't know but I usually don't like right handed players but Ekblad is lefthand dominant so he actually shoots the right way but I don't know about the hunchback thing but when i watch Ekblad play he reminds me of weber |

We could use a guy like Weber! Can we sign him to an immediate 6yr/6mil contract as soon as we draft him first overall? |

True, but again Sutter's pretty high on him by all accounts and he's been a prominent goal scorer in the WHL so it's not much of a surprise. Either Sutter and his staff are aware of his health and knows that he should be good to go by then or isn't aware of the situation completely and just thinks it's a scoring slump. |

I wasn't ready to give up on him, but I'd trade him in a heartbeat. Drafting guys that are at best 3C or bottom pairing d-men is pointless. If someone really likes him I'd still trade Lander in a package that fills a need now. |

Hence the "some people". I don't remember (or frankly care) who said it, I just recall someone saying it. Obviously if someone values him highly enough to give you something solid for him, you take that deal, but I feel like developing your own bottom-6 forwards is important for an organization to be able to do. |

Doesn't it all relate as to when we drafted the player? I forget when Lander was selected. But I agree that developing your bottom 6 players is a good thing, but wasting the higher picks on that isn't the best move either, although no one really intends to draft a bottom-6 player high up, do they?
But, as with any player, if trading them for a return that improves the team, then it's the best thing to do, hence the PRV trade. |

The fact that Lander, Pitlick and Arcobello all look somewhat more promising (let alone younger prospects) could facilitate a deal with a team that is relatively stocked on D prospects (like Buffalo) who might not be interested in Marincin/Gernat. |

Waste of time IMO. You can sign bottom 6 forwards every day of the week or get them off waivers. Rather be focusing on drafting guys that you can't sign as UFA's or are very hard to. Drafting a guy that has top 6 potential, but turns out to be a bottom 6 is okay, but drafting a guy who's potential is bottom six doesn't leave you much room for the kid to fail |

Moroz, Musil, Lander, were wasted picks IMO, at least Pitlick and Marincin have potential to be more. |
