I'm happy there won't be any blackouts and the games will be broadcasted coast to coast no matter where the game is. That said sportnets analysts, play by play guys are horrible. The biggest homers!!! I look at this beinglike taking out the national post and replacing it wiyh the sun newspaper as the national newspaper. Sportsnet is sooo ghetto.

Re: point 7. Assuming 5 teams from Atlantic make the playoffs, if the season ended today, does that mean Detroit would play in the Metropolitan playoffs for the first 2 rounds and could potentially win the Metro even if they aren't in that division???
- Buffalove129

I don't think it works that way.

Position 1 to 6 are determined by the top 3 of Metro and Atlantic division.

The last two remaining spot are the best 2 teams who weren't in their respective top 3.

Right now, it would be like this:

Boston
Tampa
Pittsburgh
Toronto
Washington
Rangers
Detroit
Montreal

I think.... unless they don't give them priority in the standings and only give them a playoffs spot.

Man this thread is hilarious.

The sens of last year won the series because of incredible goaltending and the habs havig marginal tending. I like the make up of the sens but have been very vocal about the facy that if the sens don't get that out of this world tending they will likely tank. The team has some huge holes.. that said they seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard spot, having an owner thats broke... sad situation for a decent team and a great gm. The sens win last year was the habs light of 09/10 when they rode haalak, plain and simple. No way the habs are/were better than the pens and wash. No way the sens are better than the habs last deason let alone this season. Also just to stir the pot. Subban crushs karlsson in most facets

Easy there now...it's 1/4 of the way through the season and the teams are separated by a 3 game win streak.

Let me see if I get all of this right...

1) I thought playoffs were like this:
1-3 from each division makes the playoffs. then the rest battle for spots 7-8. Should a team from each division make spots 7-8, then playoffs are divisional format for first round. Otherwise, it's 1-8 as usual.

2) The way things are written, it says no further regionalization of games.
Does that mean no more blackouts or simply that, for example, TVA can't blackout a game that I would have normally seen on RDS?

3) The whole Sens vs. Habs debate is stupid. Right now, the Sens seem to be completely into the Habs heads and therefore they win most head to head battles. That being said, it seems like the Habs are the more complete picture of a team based on last season and so far this season. And this is not me saying that I like the Habs. I've been quite vocal that I'm sick of accepting the "hoping for 6-7-8th place" mentality and would rather suck for a while and come back a stronger organization...

An example would be Sportsnet East showing a Leafs game, but since I live 25 minutes west of Ottawa, I can't watch it under the blackouts, or an Oilers game on Sportsnet West. Under the new contract, I could watch whatever I wanted.

I'd go out on a limb and say the French-language channels will always have the Habs. It's the only reason I have RDS.

No to dion and no to pk

This no order but just the guys there IMO

Doughty weber
Keith seabrook
J bo AP

Boyle

I see more than enough offense and pp qbs that guys like pk and dion are not needed ... These guys are safer players who don't have the brain cramps that dion and pk do

TVA has bought 22 games. So RDS is sure not to get 82. But the other 60 will be for sale by the Habs themselves and so the bidding should get quite expensive...

"As part of the agreement, Rogers announced that CBC will continue to broadcast Hockey Night in Canada and TVA has all of the Canadian French-language multi-media rights."

Subban has size that Karlsson does not. Karlsson has more talent.

It would be scary if Karlsson had the number of PP opportunities that Subban did.

Very debatable but I doubt we'll come to an agreement so let's just start and end with I disagree.

We can also add that both our teams are extremely lucky to have such a player on their respective team.

this news about Sportsnet doing all the games except for Saturday nights really sucks for a Leafs fan living in the Ottawa Valley. We get all four Sportsnet stations and yet we still get blacked out! It is not going to make me watch the Ottawa games. This is not very fair. .

Oops I just read the article that said that there would not be anymore regional areas and no more blackouts. I sure wish I am understanding this right. That would be fantastic!!!

I think Subban can make Team Canada, but it's not a 100 % guarantee. Karlsson will have an easier time making Team Sweden. Habs need to re-sign Subban for sure.
