I agree.
Coatsey is everyone's favorite uncle who makes inappropriate remarks about his wife's sister and probably only brings cheap beer to family parties. He's harmless. - johndewar
I think they already fired Coats, but he keeps showing up with his own mic, and everyone already feels bad about it. They already moved him out of the box... He probally threated to burn down the building.....
Just need accounting to fix the error and cut off his free boooze account. |

it's not the homerism - it's phrases, cadence, inflection etc....just don't like it anymore. i've never gotten over gene hart. - hammarby31
I never had the chance to listen to Gene, but JJ is really good at PBP calls. Like I said earlier, for a TV guy, he is one of the few that describe the game clear enough that if your not looking you know what is happening. Example... Giroux, to Voracek, back to Gioux... When Jim does it... Giroux with a cross ice pass to Vorack, who dishes it back to giroux in the slot..... |

It's kind of funny that with little to complain about with the Flyers right now, we have pages of critique on the announcers. I guess it beats the alternative...carry on. |

listen to the guys in LA
they do the best job of anyone in describing a game and they never have any bias they even admit mistakes on their initial calls on a play |

They Kings do everything better than us. They have guys like Richards, Carter and Williams! Why can't we draft guys like that!?!?!?! |

If Doc does the Play by play for the devils... Who does the play by play when Doc does NBC games.... Or does nobody actually watch devils games? |

critiquing the announcing crew is a never ending conversation...it comes up in here all the time, much like the merits or lack thereof, of shoot outs. |

I think both ties and the shoot out are a joke, but ties, to me, are a far bigger joke.
Loser points are stupid too. - johndewar
Award 0 points for a tie and I bet you'd see a lot of very exciting OT's end in W-L results. Points for winners only, ties only used as a standings tie-breaker.
(Come to think of it, why even use points at all...) |

When does the next Flight Plan air? I seem to remember that this was supposed to be coming out every two weeks, but maybe I have just lost track of time. Maybe. |

As others have said, last night was the best I've seen Couturier skate/assert himself so far in his short career. I'll be honest that I've been quite skeptical of him since I felt his skating will hold him back from living up to his full potential. But he really impressed me last night along the boards, protecting the puck in the offensive zone and showing some confidence in general with the puck.
I'm starting to get the feeling that we may see a similar pattern out of him as we witnessed from JVR....moments of brilliance followed by a few games of tentativeness. Unfortunately we're watching from the wrong end with JVR putting it all together.
Hopefully the Flyers stay patient and they may have something truly special with this mid in 2-3 years. Some crow would definitely taste nice. |

JVR also spent 2 years in college while Couts played in the NHL and matched up against other team's top lines. At age 20 Couts is worlds ahead of where JVR was. |

Baseball lost a pretty prominent figure today- Michael Weiner succumbed to an inoperable brain tumor. He was 51. That bastard just kept working hard right up to his death for 11 months after he was diagnosed. Wow. |

i like it. i was thinking bout zero for ties but didn't think it fair to have it count the same as a loss.....how about lose a point when you lose?? |
