Not one of those knows more than you or I. If you read or listen to what they say....they "speculate" that since MDZ is available that he is the guy people are looking at. Oiler management are not interested in MDZ. He would not be even close to our best defensemen. I recall a whole lot of people on here saying Terence would instantly be our best defenseman. Not the case. I don't know why I bother discussing stupid poop like this. People need to learn some common sense. - Iggysbff
so you say that none of us - ranging from dreger and beat writers to you and me - know anything about anything. and then the next sentence you definitively say that you know that the oilers are not interested in MDZ? |

we have a sick defense without MDZ. so we're probably gonna trade him (sather is great at those too, and if he doesn't, we'll keep him and still make the playoffs boohoo) for a position of need aka a scoring winger and you guys can keep yakupov, a player in a position that's a strength to you instead of trading him for the defense you need. i guess that's how we can tell which team is managed better
but then again, can't really expect any team to be managed well if the GM apparently tells all the fans exactly what players they will and won't be willing to accept. your lucky MacT trusts you guys enough to tell you personally that MDZ will never be an oiler |

dude, the oilers aren't trading anything of real value for mdz.
this doesn't take an insider or a hockey expert to figure out.
it's simple asset management.
as I said, a middling pick and some salary back for an offence first guy who's been scratched, but might help the pp abit?? maybe yes.
for nail yakupov?? surely you cant be serious |

oh!!
so we should be trading our first overall for anybody that plays the position of defence. because in fact and after all, that is the position we need!!
thanks for the lesson on good management.

it's funny how you can make a package sound good or bad with words. you say an offense first guy who's been scratched for nail yakupov and i say a 23 year old 6-year veteran puck-moving defender, who was in the top 10 (or 5?) in +/- in recent history, a 2-way center similar to mike richards or brandon dubinsky who's nhl-ready with top-6 upside (JT Miller), and a 1st round pick for an enigma that is totally lost and a liability every time he's on the ice who might go and sign in the KHL for the rest of his career? surely YOU can't be serious. |

straight up? hell no. but in a package including other attractive assets that fill holes for you, then yea, why not?
i'm sure you'd want staal or girardi over MDZ, but they might both be gone from edmonton if they're traded there this summer (for girardi) or next summer (for staal). would you pull the trigger on a deal centering around those 2? if yes, i'm sure people are thanking god you aren't runnin the show
if i was a betting man, i'd say sather has an offer on the table of MDZ + Miller + 1st for Yakupov and MacT has a counteroffer of that exact same deal only including one of Stepan/Kreider in addition to the other 3 pieces and it's at a stalemate. |

dude.
keep mdz and miller.
we'll keep yakupov.
you want to offer something the oilers need for our 2012 1st overall that led rookies in goals and points? maybe we'll consider it. but not that package.
he has struggled lately, but has also started to play well again which is relieving abit. and isn't 70 games into his nhl career.
stop trying to pawn your crap on us, and then saying we're stupid for not wanting it.. |

if im a betting man;
I say mact started with mcdonagh, got rebuffed. asked for staal and kreider and got rebuffed.
sather came back with mdz +
mact said no. he doesn't help us enough
they went their separate ways |

How about Hemsky and a 3rd for DZ? - Ranger71
I think if mdz was in fact discussed seriously, it woulda been hemsky from our side. not yaks.
I dunno. I consider it without the 3rd I suppose.
prob not though. |

Been reading your comments back n forth with RangerDanger, and honestly not worth commenting back... He constantly thinks the Rags players are far n away better than all other players on other teams. Then try to sell you a book of crap of how it will help and benefit. Totally comical
He's a little nervous bc the Queen is there best player and hoping he will resign, plus they have Mr. Softy (Nash) who now unfortunately has concussion issues and the team still has trouble scoring with all of their superior talent . Sather is an idiot, and AV is not the answer at coach.... |

im not bro.
mdz does not give the oilers what we need.
hemsky gives abit of insulation for yaks. especially with yaks playing poorly.
(yaks is starting to turn it around. he's been a different player for the last 3 games...)
if we're making a move, we're doing it for pieces we need.
not just for the sake of it
mcdonagh or staal?? hells yes. even girardi to a much lesser degree |

Forget these guys. They have already decided that their management spent days scouting the Rangers and came away thinking Hemsky was too much to offer for Lundquist. Let's see what happens and then laugh at their changed tunes. DZ to Calgary would be fun as we could all tune in to watch him dance through all of their first round perimeter smurfs who don't like to check. |

yes, we think hemsky is worth more than lundqvist. one could totally deduce that from not wanting to deal mail yakupov for mdz. fair comparison with zero exaggeration....
and yes, the oilers would rue everyday we had to play against the flames if they acquired Michael del effin superstar zotto.. he'd run a clinic on us and 'dance' through our 'smurfs' at will.
really good post bro.
no really.......... |
