I wish we had two Taylor halls. But why split them up? Why not have

With the Leafs battling for last in the East over the past ten years, you should appreciate your own comments. |

Was wondering why those lines looked pretty good. Obviously meant Hemsky on line 2. |

Always bugs me when fans, of what ever team, see a trade happen and then start spouting....
(frank) come on Mact wake up. Should have done that.
What were you doing Gillis. Come on Burkie blah, blah blah....
These guys all know far more about each situation than any fan here. They have depth profiles and far more info on every player. Just give it a rest....
Go Oil! I'll be there with some customers tonight. 2 of us Oil fans, 2 Flames fans....
Should be a good time....regardless of the outcome.... |

I remember on one episode of Oil Change, management was using hockeydb to research a player 5 minutes before accepting the trade
My left nut could do a better job managing the Oilers... They're not as good as you think. |

Maybe just a throw-in or minor trade? I remember hearing or reading about how the Canucks acquired Higgins at the TDL during the cup run year. They wanted Booth, but couldn't agree on a deal and it was getting close to the deadline, so Tallon offered up Higgins for a pick instead and the Canucks quickly looked up his puck possession stats and got him for a third.
Turns out that Higgins is twice the player Booth is. |

I am going to go out and be the douche on this. The Oilers are being terrible. I think it is great that MacT is standing up for the coach but he picked the wrong coach to put his foot down for. He should have done it for Krueger who at least had the Oilers playing great special teams. Eakins needs to understand that he needs dedicated PK guys so he can come out after the penalty with our elite scorers and us the momentum change plus the fact that their top guys are tired to our advantage. Basic hockey strategy and he doesn't understand it. Gagner, Gordon, Smyth... should be used in these situations.
Also Someone needs to spend some time with Belov. He is not a bad player but his shot is so predictable that all a goalie has to do is go down and cover the center of the net. Not any corners because Belov shoots low and to the middle. He is a goalies dream.
We have heard the math. The Odds of the Oilers winning the playoffs are about the same as Feaster winning the Nobel Prize. We need to bite the bullet and find a new coach to stick with for the long run. One with experience. Eakins has only been here for 20 games, he has not been entrenched long enough to mess with the Oilers "hockey playing" (Yeah, that got quotes). Then we should tough it out with guys that have a future with the team. Acrobello, Fedun and maybe even give Lander another go. Jones and Eager aren't that much better anyways. Gaz is fighting but not the right people. Not defending our stars, just beating up other fighters which is useless.
Then if we sink, we sink while giving our guys experience. We take our hits and we draft high again. I don't like it either but there are two strong picks next year. A huge Center and an even larger dman that could make the lineup next year. We see our d at the deadline for picks, prospects and in the summer when people are pressed for funds we trade them for players that can help the team next year. Then next year we pull a Colorado. |

Yeah I think it was when they signed Belanger. They pulled up his stats on someones laptop, which was just point totals, FO%, plus-minus. It was pretty sad.
I'm sure they had to have had some scouts see him play, and they probably had some game notes on him. But if that was the extent of their statistical analysis to sign a guy for 3 years, oh boy. |

Yeah, aside from the sure things, trades/acquisitions are basically equivalent to throwing darts... Some work out, some don't. The Oilers have been a sh1t show for so long, I'm convinced I could put together a better management team by picking random Hockeybuzz posters... Let's be honest, we couldn't do any worse! |

should be a lot of goals scored tonight. But knowing our teams, we will be deadlocked at zero heading to a shoot out. mostly cause 58 mins will be played in the neutral zone; turnover after turnover. |
