if mike cammaleri is 6 meters shorter than MSL, and nikita kucherov put 10 pounds on in the offseason while scoring 12 goals in his first 13 games as a pro, then does bretty Connolly use white or black tape on his stick?

im not overly concerned losing Stamkos. i think this is an opportunity for the guys to really buy into the new system and learn how to win without scoring a plethora of goals. they played a fantastic game against MTL which easily couldve been a blowout without Price on super wheaties.

of course it doesnt hurt to have Bishop stand up as the unequivocal #1 goalie. already leads the NHL with 12 wins, 10th sv%, 5th in GAA. there are a lot of reasons we are #1 in the east, stamkos was only one of them. dont get me wrong, its a big loss, the wins will just tend to be closer

the depth, coaching, and goaltending this year is immensely better than people realize. they will learn soon enough. i think Stamkos comes back to a team that is firing on all cylinders

edit. dont get me wrong, stammer going down is a rough loss. just have that much confidence in the other aspects of the Bolts game

All this has been great (with) Stamkos, though. Leading the team with 23pts, next behind him is St Louis with 16pts then Filppula with 12pts. Without his production, your team will (without a doubt) have a harder time winning games. Meaning less GF and likely more GA.

That said, how confident are you in the teams defensive abilities to shut down the opposition without Stamkos helping them net a few.

Furthermore, Stamkos is your top PP guy...hard to believe they will maintain their PP points without your leading guy.

Colin, stop talking common sense, you know better & for shame you post about another team. OMG! Just wait till the 3-4 game losing streak hits, first thing MSM will report is on the loss of Stamko's production.

our PP cant get much worse
my confidence in this team w/o stamkos is high, ofc higher x100 with him on it

realistically, we all just have to wait to see what happens

Oh for sure, and Im not going to sit here and try to claim that the Bolts will poop the bed without him, I can just advise you that GM's would much rather be proactive than reactive as to avoid any slides which result in dropping down the standings further than they would have liked.

So you have the depth to replace what Stamkos brings? Awesome, I didn't realize. Is it similar to when Pitt lost Crosby but continued to win? And then lost Malkin and again continued to win. Man you guys might want to start the parade route.
- whipper334

Since when would Cammelleri replace what Stamkos brings? Your statement said the Bolts lack depth which is an incorrect statement. The only "detriment" to the Bolts depth is it is young and thus unproven. We don't know what we are going to get out of that youth but it doesn't change the fact the guys we are talking about are high-quality NHL prospects.

Not a bad top five, tbh...

1. Jonathan Drouin, C/W; 2. Andrey Vasilevskiy, G; 3. Vladislav Namestnikov, C; 4. Nikita Kucherov, RW; 5. Slater Koekkoek

Even without Stamkos, i still like the Lightnings chance to make the playoffs than Calgary. So no guys you can keep Cammy, this will be a blessing in disguise. We will get to find out more about OUR team. Who fits, who doesnt, who should be moved, who can hang w the big boys of the NHL. Worry about your team and their future because ours looks very very bright!

And what's the common denominator to all 5 of those you listed...not one of them is in the NHL. Those 5 names are the cream of the crop and the main reason we have #1 prospect group.

However, in the NHL you have young forwards like Panik, Palat, Connolly, Killorn, JT Brown, and Tyler Johnson. All are classified as rookies or if they are not basically are rookies. These are the names we are expecting to collectively pick up the Stamkos slack. Not one alone can do it but each one of them will get plenty of opportunity to mature quickly with what will now be elevated ice-time. Yzerman wants them to get experience and no better opportunity than with the unfortunate Stamkos injury. Acquiring Cammalleri does nothing but subtract from that opportunity

One more note regarding Cammalleri. There was a reason we traded Conacher. Partially b/c we needed Bishop but also b/c Conacher was expendable as the 3rd smurf in our lineup. We have 2 "small" guys already in TJ and MSL so Yzerman jettisoned Conacher to avoid having 3. Cammalleri is not a fit unless it's a deadline rental type deal to try and get some extra playoff scoring but even then it is highly doubtful the way our roster sits now

yzerman proved by passing seth jones he will wait for prospects to develop properly, as well as by sending drouin back to the Q and keeping Connolly in the AHL

he is not a reactive kinda guy, and as artyukhin76 stated best, he wont burn the whole farm for a half season fill-in for stamkos, even if it means missing playoffs,

the key to this group was patience and development going into this year, and I think with all the success so far many have gotten lost in that(myself too) . we will not rush into a big trade to risk our future, TB is all about the future right now, the current success is just a huge bonus, and we all love it

hes done a lot for our organization
