I thought all our D had a pretty good night last night. A couple little gaffes by a couple D but overall a B or B+
- Garnie

I should say I had no problem with The Lone Ranger last night....just want to make sure I say nice things when I have them to say since it is rare

Now if it was him and not Kessel that gave the puck away, kicked it into our net and then whiffed on the shootout.....well I would be in here losing it

A lot of our passes in the neutral zone got picked off. I wasn't impressed by that. Often a D trying to move it up.

Gotta agree. Special teams and goaltending are why we are winning games.
The D all played well yesterday, but I noticed towards the end of the game that Phaneuf looked completely gassed. Same against Boston too.

He becomes completely useless after about 23-25 minutes ice time. Dion should give Suter a call and inquire about his conditioning program.

Had the same thought. Carlyle has to figure out a way to lower his ice time.

It's a blessing and a curse.

You've got a guy who plays well at both ends of the ice, eats huge minutes on the special teams (PP and PK), and matches top opponents regularly. But the temptation is to take that guy and burn him out simply because he has the tools.

Ultimately, maybe we don't need to find a suitable #2 as much as a good #3. I'm hoping Rielly grows into that role in time.

Franson isn't it (bummer, as he was a good candidate). Ranger isn't it. Gunnar is needed on the top pairing. Gardiner is just a huge question mark. Fraser shouldn't be anywhere over #6 on a contender.

I was really surprised that Brad Marsh did not mention Dion and his DJ qualities in his latest blog on 'What Makes a Good Dressing Room?' http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?blogger_id=197

Just trade the guy already and get a real C and teamplayer instead of this bum

Its a sticky situation. We have to use Phaneuf until we get guys who we can depend on more. But until we do, he'll be worked to death. Not much they can do.

Yes, but if the Leafs found a way to keep Grabo instead of Bozak we wouldn't need to worry about all that.

Eklund is up in his tower, closely watching his evil empire. His assistant walks in.

"Uh... sir...we've hit a lull on the Leafs message boards."

"RELEASE THE PHANEUF DEBATE!"

"But sir! It's--"

"DO IT NOW!"

"Uh... yes... sir. Right away, sir."

Eklund sits in his chair and begins to coldly monitor the hit counter on his computer. "Good. Good. it's all falling into place."

I'm pretty sure Keith Aucoin scored his first game vs the Leafs. He really showed us! Look at him now..... oh
