i would consider moving Kessel for the right return. He would be really hard to replace but his streakyness is not optimal for a team that needs scoring. If Kessel isn't scoring then it all up to Kadri and Lupul. But i must say Raymond looks like he can provide a bit of offense too.

Plays PK well, yes. Draws this year have been way down, even lower than Kadris. But I honestly don't think he's this defensive centre people make him out to be.

The bets they can possibly do is use past performance and weigh that against future considerations (age, for example) to come up with some probability of how valuable a player might be in the future.

They weighed Grabovski's future with the Leafs against his salary. They made their call. But most people would agree that Grabovski was never going to live up to the 5.5 million dollar contract here.

It's a "what have you done for me lately?" business and Bozak was a superior player in the more recent past. He also came far cheaper and he's younger.

People are using what Grabovski has done on a completely different team, over a very small sample, in a year that Grabovksi is obviously playing over his head for personal reasons to cast aspersions on what was very sound reasoning at the time.

Seeing as it's impossible to know how Grabovski would have done here had he not been bought out, it's also an unfalsifiable claim. To get so worked up about something that cannot be proven one way or the other is bizarre.

And I'm certainly not going to use something that cannot be proved or disproved to disparage the judgment of a successful coach who has given us tangible results.
