Backstrom has left two, if not three games already in 7 outings this season. Kadri was looking at the puck and made a gut reaction to contact. He put his arms out, which every player does instinctually.

Problem is, it was right into the head of the goalie...

Right, which goes uncalled more often than it goes called. It's a completely arbitrary ruling. People crash into goalies, it's a fast moving game centralized around their nets. You can't honestly tell me there was any malicious intent on his end.

That's what the hearings for - Kadri will get to say what he saw, felt and heard and why he moved through the crease. The optics were bad and with Backstrom leaving the ever-unpredictable Shanahan may give him a game. I would hope not but maybe.

All that said it was nice to see Kadri play aggressive and 'on the edge'. Haven't seen that in a while.

Disgraceful. Both hits. One word: Shanabanned!

Goggles. Stop taking everything those horrible announcers on FS Minnesota as gospel. Those guys were such homers last night they made me wish Jack Edwards was broadcasting the game instead.

Still don't know how that went uncalled, even after the other team got what, 7 minutes of PP time prior to the boarding. That call has to be made but it goes to what some have been talking about this morning, inconsistency with the two ref system.

I think the Leafs need to start playing reeaaally dirty, that way the refs just get used to it and stop calling the small things, or the concerning things, or the blatantly suspendable things. Just like the Bruins.

The hearing shouldn't be about the backstrom hit, There is precedence when it comes to goalies getting hit and the players not getting suspended. Gionta vs Reimer, Lucic vs Miller. Goalie get run over all the time with no hearings for the players.

The hearing should be about the hit on Granlund because that dude ducked and Kadris forearms went hit his head.

Backstrom headbutted Kadri's arm.

Suspend Backstrom.

The hit on grandlund was uncalled for...it was such a stupid penalty to take, but maybe underserving of a suspension. However, the elbow to Niklas Backstrom deserves a minimum 3-4 game suspension. Some goon is gonna knock this arrogant, self centered player. He's a good player, but he deserves to get clocked.

I believe Lupul has done it already. couple weeks ago in bongcouver.

It's not about the Granlund hit, because the NHL knows it's a clean hit. Only the Refs and HB trolls disagree.

He got kicked out of the came to calm everyone down. He was already involved in one too many incident last night.

Pretty soon we will have Lawyers for players suing the NHL for negligence and prejudice, lol. They don't listen to other examples from the players and agents.

They have even put a gag on GM's from speaking with the league about hits for 48hrs or so, it really is becoming a farce, they need to take it away from the league to rule on suspension over to an impartial panel of 3 independent rulers, gets it away from any perception of bias.

And I stand by my other comments precedence has been set. Kadri shouldn't be suspended just like Gionta wasn't for his hit on Reimer. That hit was actually Gionta skating by the crease and sticking his elbow out to hit Reimer in the head. Kadri basically bulled over Backstrom so of course his elbow is going to hit the guy in the head.

I think its because they know they botched the call on Backstrom. Kind of like the refs botching the call on the no-goal against Tampa the other day where they made up a phantom goalie interference call just because they don't want to look like asshats. NHL refs are turning into umps.
