I'd say this should be a measuring stick against what happens to Kadri:

Based on Shanahans criteria I'd say Kadri SHOULD get 1 or less.

It's not a penalty if you hit a guy from behind if he's on the boards but it's called boarding if there is room between him and the boards - that's why no call on Phaneuf
- Garnie

That is false. Hitting from behind is a penalty at any time

Hasn't been discussed here this morning.... not as long as I've been here

No it's not and you know it.

If the player is on the boards with the puck he gets pasted 9 outta 10 times

Happens 20 times a game

Edit: every time the puck gets chipped in the 1st guy there gets hit from behind almost every time.

Not to start the argument again. But every hit Chara gives is illegal you know.

Every time he hits someone contact to the head is made.

- Cherry--Skoal

As mentioned by others, no-one has referenced that directly this morning.

Secondly, Chara is capable of many good, clean, hard hits, I've seen them. When he bring up his stick/hands he doesn't do himself any favours though, because then the head is likely to be hit before the chest.

Hitting a guy in the #s I'd a penalty at and time and place. There is no distinction in the rules, hitting from behind is a penalty

Well they certainly don't call most, unless the guy goes head 1st into the boards, but if the guy is up against the wall already, they never call it.

Imo

So you don't see at least 5-10 of these every game NOT get called?

Edit: sorry if the player goes down towards the boards they will call it, but if just slams into the boards and continues fighting for the puck, rarely a call

hitting from behind is called if there is 5-10 fett from the player being hit. and the boards. Players that put their belly on the glass do that to take some of the shock out of the hit. its a safe position to be in if it is done correctly. Basically conceding the hit.

It's weird. it is technically a hit to a guys back. But is not dangerous

meh 2 games would be fine....can beat buffalo without him....heck Leafs could beat buffalo without sticks or skates.....although at least 1 of those games is going to be a poop show - and he would be outstanding in that capacity
- BlowMonkey

ya buffalo is crap this year but the leafs always have issues beating this team.

don't understand why people think it will be an ez 4 points this weekend.

Not talking about pinning a guy, talking about hitting. Phanuef wasn't pinned he was checked into the boards from behind.

Exactly - sorta what I meant, obviously if you slam the guy into the boards head 1 st and break his neck you get 2 mins and feel shame.

Which again, is wrong. They call it sometimes and not others, you either do or you don't, it all comes back to a consistency issue.
