Consistency is something you will not see in the league. And it should not matter, what the player's role on the team is. A head shot is a head shot weather you are Scott or Kadri. Scott has never been suspended before... you can't suspend someone because of reputation. there needs to be a act in there somewhere.
- JoeSabre

So why didn't Gionta get suspended? or Lucic? Reputation will always be a factor whether you like it or not, Scott got 7 games because the league, coaches, and GM's know what his role is, he can't play hockey if his life depended on it, so he's only there to do one job. That's why he got 7.

Maybe because the Leafs fans are the first to troll other sights with there opinions. My take is this was a head hit, actually both were, so if John Scott got 7 games and that was his first offense, Kadri should get 7 as well. But we all know the process is bias (IE Bruins) so what he gets is anyones guess. to read Leafs fans excuse this hit or claim it was not a head hit is laughable.
- JoeSabre

Lol

Kadri goes in to make the hit and it's his fault Granlund decided to tie his skates at that exact moment

Smithson 2 mins for body checking

Kadri 5 mins for body checking

We know which team the NHL wanted to win last night

I (frank)ing hate that mutant ape.
- Pecafan Fan

I don't know Marty, we all see it, why does the league not see it.

On what I wrote earlier, if the Leafs board a player, they deserve the penalty but we have witnessed blatant hits from behind the last several games that have gotten nothing, it is frustrating the inconsistency with these refs.

Listen, just because your team of gutless, skilless, goons gets suspended when they do gutless goony things, doesn't mean good players should get suspended for hits that are at worst minor penalties.

Why should skill level be taken into consideration for suspensions/penalties?

League did look at Kadri on Granlund. Viewed primarily as a full body hit. Head was not PPoC. Penalty on ice fit the crime.

He did it to Lupul Saturday night right in front of the ref, how he gets away with it time after time is something the league should be embarrassed about.
- LeafMan

Never want to say the NHL is rooting for certain teams to win...

But how the (frank) do you explain Boston's exemptions to the rules?

It shouldn't.

I just wanted to remind him his team didn't have any skill.

Though, unfortunately, skill does seem to be taken into consideration... which is why guys like Crosby or the Sedins don't get penalties every time somebody skates by them, and they pretend like they got shot.

You are saying that because a player has his head down, you are allowed to hit him in the head.

this isn't the Stevens era anymore.

- Blackstrom2

It's no big hitting hockey now. Just rubbing people out is all you're allowed to do. Wish the game was like this when I played.

It's not so much about that, it's more of the reputation of the player. Scott can't play hockey and only has one job, everyone knows that. Kadri is a very good hockey player that plays with an edge and clearly crossed the line, suspendable. There are no arguments on that.

First of all...if you don't like bacon, you're wrong.

Secondly, and please do not rail on me for this, but Leafs fans get it the most because they give it the most. You are the heart of hockey in North America (sorry Montreal). It is hockey Mecca. But year after year after year, there is a large contingent (not all, but a lot) of Leafs fans who feel it is their God-given right to be judge and jury on all things hockey, and that their team should just be given The Cup. All fanbases have those guys, but there seems to be the most TML fans of them all.

Personally, I don't care if you're a hypocrite or not. I have my view of whether it was a dirty hit, and I agree that the NHL's disciplinary system is very hit-or-miss. However, I'm just trying to let you know, in a civilized manner, why TML fans take so much heat from other fan bases. Just my 2 cents.

- jmatchett383

Bacon. Omnomnomnom.

Also, you're wrong. If you want to know why, read your post. I AM LEAF FAN, HEAR ME RAAAAWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

PS. Bacon. Omnomnomnom.

Not comparing the players.... comparing the suspensions for head hits. and he didnt hit him SQUARE in the chest, elbows up caught the head. Plus elbow to the goalie head.. 7 games. You can stop laughing now
- JoeSabre

Full body hit but Penalty on ice fit the crime? In other words a clean hit gets you five if the ref wants to give it to you, yeah.

Square in the chest with elbows down.... Unless you disagree with the video?

The goalie play was reckless and stupid, and they gave tootoo 2 games as repeat offender for the same play kadri had last night (and have not even punished others for more )

2 games max for backlund. Grandlund was clean.

It's not that, its the consistency of the league when it comes to suspendable hits. If you haven't seen some of the hits Chara has gotten away with this year, than I question if you actually watch the Bruins, or if you're just biased.
