Howdy Ogi. Hope you are, like me, enjoying all the crying from Packer fans amongst family and friends.
- Elbows15

Well, I'm hanging out in Philcoland right now, so there's not too many crying Pecker fans around. But I look forward to the whining when I get back stateside.

'61 Hawks had talent: should have won a couple.

''69 Cubs had talent: should have won a couple (excellent pitching, excellent balance).

Even after blowing the NLCS in 1984, the Cubs had the best pitching in the league going into 1985: Eckersley, Trout, Sutcliffe, Sanderson, Ruthven. Every one got hurt in 1985.

It's hard to put together a good string - the margin of error - even for the best teams - is so narrow that it doesn't take much to throw it all off track.

- StLBravesFan

How the Cub team of that era didn't win anything is baffling. In 61 I still thought poopting on myself was fun.

No, it's a king sized Snickers. I've already lost one to him.

Anyways, it's a suspendable offense on Hockeybuzz to bet money.

He would have been the genius if Halas listened to him about hiring Ditka. Anyway, Finks wasn't with the Bears for the 83 draft. Buddy came up with the 46 which worked until teams decided to use wide receivers. Lol

Sorry back to hockey.

8x8. If that isn't enough for the boys. Send their asses to Buffalo and Winnipeg for nothing but picks. A lot of picks. They were paid a lot of money at a very young age. If that doesn't earn you some loyalty, (frank) em. Send them to hockey hell.
- Elbows15

A job isn't about loyalty.

It is about having a high level of production and as a free individual maximizing (and balancing convenience if that is your prerogative) compensation.

It is a silly notion to think they are immoral for wanting market value. Now maybe they like the city and enjoy the organization and are willing to count those as benefits that negate more dollars but that is THEIR personal decision and I don't think you or I are in a position to pass judgment on that.

It is presumptions and arrogant to make that statement.

I have 2 too. One a full time college student. The other is involved in way too many activities. When they said life is a circle, I didn't think it meant I would constantly drive in one.

You mean Esplen doesn't have his own Canucks TV talk show that resembles a Jerry Springer-esque plot?

He does. Unfortunately, it is based on the Kramer model.

"Then, in 1983, in his swan song to the Bears, Finks drafted seven men who would key the 1985 title run: offensive left tackle Jimbo Covert and wide receiver Willie Gault in the first round, cornerback Mike Richardson in round two, strong safety Dave Duerson in round three, guard Tom Thayer in the fourth round, and two incredible steals in the eighth round, pass rusher and Super Bowl XX MVP Richard Dent and left guard Mark Bortz.

As soon as Finks signed his draftees, he turned in his resignation to Halas."

Isn't enjoying the organization and job loyalty kind of one in the same?

Now, that is a draft. Bortz was drafted as a defensive tackle. The great Richard Stanfel made him into an offensive lineman.

This is something I miss very much, even though it hasn't happened very much in the Cutler-era.

Not really. There's a possibility that it could happen before the 4 year mark.

However, I'll take that Snickers action betting that it won't hit the $80 million mark by the summer of 2015.

- EKolb13

I will take that action.

No, but the big news here today is the Mayor's admission that he smoked crack...so it does kinda feel Springer-esque.

No kidding. Really hasn't happened much in the Favre and Rogers era. Still sweet. "We would have won if Rogers didn't get hurt". Of course, fully forgetting that the Bears are missing their starting QB.
