>Really enjoying how much Sharp is reminding me of a younger version of Teemu Selanne
>I have an old tape of Selanne's rookie record 76 goal season -- tape shows most of those goals -- and the incredible variety of ways Selanne scores
>One thing you quickly learned about Selanne was his uncanny ability to burst without the puck -- at just the right time -- and at just the right angle in the neutral zone -- to create a breakaway during "normal" play -- Sharp did it yesterday
>Sharp has been outstanding this year without the puck and is now also starting to score in many more ways than just blasting by the goalie -- like Selanne does
>Sharp is reading the situation better and putting the puck where the goalie can't stop it -- like the goal against Backstrom from the side of the net along the goal line at Minny -- very Teemu-like
>Hope Sharp continues to channel Teemu -- having great linemates who can take advantage of what Sharp is doing makes it all the more possible

That dude is ten times more intelligent and knowledgeable about hockey than you can ever hope to be. Why don't you get back to being on your knees in front of Brandon Pirri some more.

He played great yesterday so he deserves the start.....was thinking it would be a good game for Khabby to start...with it being Calgary.

How are things in Virginia today?

As others have said, can't start K at home - first GA and he'd be hounded out of the building by the 22,000 faithful.

What up fellas? Been a while.

Didn't catch the game yesterday but here's hoping that it wasn't the first of many laughers for you guys.

Jets are in tough right now and will be for as long as Ladd, Little and Wheeler are considered the top line. I'm not sure but it seems like the pressure is getting to our top guys like Ladd and Wheeler. Making way more boneheaded plays this year than last. The stop gaps that Chevy has used have been a disappointment to say the least but he won't blow up his prospect pool to make the playoffs just because the fans feel entitled so I understand the moves he has and hasn't made.

I can't think of any team who'd want Buff bad enough to offer a return of any worth to Chevy. The Jets don't need second line guys or late draft picks and Buff isn't worth a scoring winger/centre/starting goalie. So a Jet he will stay and that's good enough for me.

If anything, feel sorry for Claude Noel. He's getting mauled by fans and media alike but he doesn't have the cards to play with the big boys. I'm sure he's counting down his days but ain't a coach out there who could do much better with what he's got. That said, he really needs to leave Jokenin off the god damn powerplay and let Scheifele try to gain some confidence.

The UC crowd had a lot to do with breaking Huet it seemed. I think Khabibulin is tougher mentally, but why take the chance?

I just don't want to see CC starting 70 games this year, especially if there is any chance he makes the Canadian Olympic team.

I would like to think they want to keep this little roll they are on going by having Crow in there. I have not heard of any ill effects from yesterday.

True enough. Do you remember how it was at the UC when Huet was in goal.

He may be tougher but if he hears that stuff he really will hit the vodka and go on a three day bender like Billy Smith of the Islanders who did and woke up face down in the middle of the road looking at the yellow line.

Good article - and you are 100% correct on the Emery-Holtby issue.

I don't like fighting in the game, I think it's unnecessary and serves no purpose (certainly not deterrence), but it is part of the current game, so if two players want to go, they'll go with no repercussions.

But if the other guy absolutely doesn't want to fight, and the "instigator" keeps coming and just buries him (with, by the way, only a half-hearted effort by the referees to stop the carnage), the league must step in. Suspension earned by Emery, suspension should be delivered by the league to him.

AND to the coach AND the the team.

What Emery did was a criminal assault, holding down an unwilling victim while savagely pummeling the back of his head and neck. After what he went through to return to the NHL, I had a lot of respect for Emery. Not anymore.

Actually letting him play should be enough for him to injure himself if recent history is any indication.

The only good game for Khabby to start is a game of punchbuggy on the bus to Rockford.

How much is attributable to the Flyers' coach and GM - why would Emery go after Holtby unless he was encouraged to?

Not that "following orders" has been that good a defense since 1945.
