Hawks shot high too many times tonight. You don't want to be one and done shoot low. I'm ever the optimist and defender of the offense, but 2 goals is bad against that team. Kane with embarrassing coverage on the OT goal. And everyone who said Morin is a better scorer than Stalberg ain't looking to hot right now

How is Stalberg doing?

Yes - not enough pressure on Berra, no net presence so no deflections that I particularly saw.

I don't fault Crawford for the loss - two deflected goals, the other in his weak spot, ok - only gave his usual two.

Berra was very good, but was well protected (even considering 40+ shots against) by Calgary.

To add to this....a loss is a team effort just as a win is. Because a few of us say our goalie should've had a couple doesn't mean we are hanging the loss on him. It's a fair criticism. He's a good goalie as most of us continue to say....but based on the response to some of criticism it's as if there is never a goal that is his fault.......

To be honest, I think Q trusts Morin even less than Stalberg although Morin looks fine every time he's on the ice. If there's one thing I really don't like about Q, its the discrepancies between how he treats players.

What gets me in games like this is Why Q started so early with juggling/short bench stuff etc. Was it a punishment? Was he trying to challenge his core? Just don't get it. There was nothing Morin or Pirri did in their play.

Especially in 2nd of back to backs? When you have more talent? I will never understand that. Just let the guys roll.

Hard to tell...

...between being hurt and being scratched he's not seeing the ice much.

Give the Flames some credit. They played like the hungrier team tonight.
- faustus1500

Solid game plan by Calgary - but the Hawks should win these games. Their number 1 dman down and a first game for a goalie. But it happens. the usual play by the Hawks - don't get the dman involved until they are down and play safe. Ya ya, it was a back to back game.

The ot goal was tough, don't think crawford ever saw the shot as he barely flinched until it was past him. Most likely screened by Shaw.
Again Shaw and Kane out on the 4 and 4.

I think he was trying to get different looks at a goalie most of the team wasn't familiar with....but fair assessment.

That kinda was my point Rob. Is Morin a great defensive player? Probably not, but he sure as hell isn't worse than Stalberg.

Some times you just have to give the other team credit. Calgary played their Cup final. They played a very good game. Blaming Crow is ludicrous. Two deflections, one from the doorstep, the other changes direction and takes off like a rocket. Plain and simple, the Hawks didn't pay the price to get to the dirty areas. It happens. Still put a point in the bank. Its still way too early to worry about the standings.
- Elbows15

Yeah it is too early to worry about the standings. I keep expecting the avs to drop, but they keep winning. Let's see if they keep it up because I don't want to play the blues in the 1st round in the 2 vs. 3 seed

I actually thought the Avs would have a 6 or 8 point edge on us with how hot they've been....but we're only 2 points behind them, though they do have 2 games in hand.

Just like first few games of the season: lots of shots, lots of possession time, lots of Corsi/Fenwick points (about 85-45) - but no net presence, no deflections, no rebounds, no breakaways.

Not well. Trotz doesn't like him and there's probably a good chance him getting hurt early side tracked him.

It is my biggest issue with Q. Fine, bench guys for lack of effort or making the same mistakes over and over. Pirri was actually one of the most dangerous forwards tonight. He got off three or four good shots from a good area. Morin shoots the puck low and hard. Calgary second goal was started when Toews, Hoss and Sharp were playing ice capades and not getting the puck to the net. They made a quick easy breakout because all three of them were below the dots along the wall.

I am not saying bench them, but let some guys learn from their mistakes. Even the best make them.

At this point I have no idea what to expect.

The Avs have me in disbelief...I don't get it at all.
The Blues are being the Blues...
...and I think the Wild, Stars and Jets are about what we've seen to this point.

So third in the Division? I don't like the sound of that...

ehhh, it's a long season. Hopefully the Hawks give a damn by New Years.

I don't think he is better than Stalberg....until he scores 20 goals in a season that argument is defined as ridiculous. He does have more grit than Stals but at the same time Vik has been atrocious in Nashville.

Lets establish some simple hockey facts.

Victor Stalberg is an elite skater. A guy who barely played hockey in his youth, who only later went to College to play. He has a great shot, but because he did not grow up playing hockey like many guys do, he does not have the instincts/hockey IQ. If you take away his game breaking speed, and just slow him down to average, he does not play in ECHL.

Jeremy Morin is a hockey player, he possesses and elite shot and is a natural goal scorer. He is will play physical and plays well along the wall. Morin will have a longer career than Stalberg. Morin will score more than Stalberg. RP I guess did not get the paper this morning, but Morin has 2 assists, and Stalberg...donuts....

A better analogy for some in understanding Stalberg is he is like a track star that tries to play football or wide receiver. Yes you can't teach speed, but there are nuances/subtelties that come from experience that speed can't overcome.

That from a guy who loves Stalberg.

The Avs are still weak on the back end. Everyone is the West is beating up on the East. This team knows how to win. What has St. louis proven?

I think part of the problem is what's expected of Stals in Nashville vs. how he fit with the Hawks.

I think Stals will always be a better complimentary player, and may never produce in a top 6 roll.

Pirri had a solid game, didn't see enough of Morin....it is fair critique of Q.
