QC is questionable due to the lack of corporate money/support and the fact that the entire province of quebec is struggling economically.

and winnipeg is the smallest market in the league (QC would be if they got a team)

if the honeymoon starts to fade (its time to win) than any drop in revenue could be catastrophic.

and good luck trying to get free agents to sign.

Bettman and the BoG have also stated that the Jets have to sell out every night in order for it to work. I certainly hope it does because the fans love their team and that's who it's about.

Personally I'd love another team in Hartford. But I can also understand why that will most likely not happen any time soon or at all.

enlighten us. if you think QC not having a team is a league failure or that the league is somehow not doing well, you don't know what you're talking about, albeit articulately.

I think this argument can be summed up in two words. Phoenix coyotes. The league should of never gone out to the desert. Sorry yotes fans but its true. Qc is a more viable hockey market.

i'm sure jimmy already knew that.

but yes, for Winnipeg to work they need to keep butts in seats. it will be tough if the losing continues.

Tall order there. Pavalec is swiss cheese. Blake Wheeler is in your top 6.

in the hearts and minds of pond hockey playing fans, yes it is. in the world of corporate, pro sports, it's a BIG gamble.

It's about the TV market size which is the only factor the legitimizes Phoenix and Miami. To attract a deal like the NBC deal you need to be in large US markets.

Chara should be suspended for just as long as Scott. They are comparable players, I mean for gods sake, Chara only has 1 goal in his career. Guy is a predator who can barely skate, only out there to do one thing and it's injuring opposing players. I hear he had blueprints to the Bell center a week before, plotting his hit on Pacioretty.

Not enough to attract the deal they just received unfortunately. I'm not against it all, it's Canada's game there should be more teams. That's the poopty business end of it though. More money in the US even in bad markets. Hence, Sunbelt teams. Hartford, QC, Saskatoon lose out for the moment.

EDIT: Hamilton has been identified as a viable market but tell that to the Maple Leafs who are themselves a billion dollar organization and count for a 1/3 of league revenue.

How about this head shot by Chara? Pathetic, we can't have those in the game and not even a mention in this blog by Ty, the head shot preacher. Zdeno Chara the Embarrassment

They will have butts in the seats for a while, the waiting list to even get season tickets is till in the 10ks, and every year you have to put money down to keep your spot. It is that much in demand. I am originally from Winnipeg and the fans there arent stupid, they know they are lucky to have the Jets back and wont take NHL hockey for granted.

And that ownership group is really smart, Thomson and Chipman have been qouted that when they built the MTS Centre they wanted it to be 15k for when NHL eventually comes back so in a small market there is a lure of going to the game if the tickets are hard to come by. Keeps the demand and interest up vs a 20k seat barn that might have problems selling out.

They also own the 11 blocks around the MTS center and the building itself which is somewhere in in the top 15-20 of revenue generating arenas in north america last time i checked. They set it up so the lease deals for the area around the arena are basically paying the bills to keep the building functioning, then the Jets, concession, parking, and concerts etc are all gravy.

The 9.25 beers hurt though

Sweet win for my Bs last night. I really loved the head shots laid out by Thornton and Chara. They totally crushed some heads right guys? YEAH!!! That's Bs hockey right there. good solid hits to the head that leave their opponents concussed. Milbury and Jones agree. Now those dirty Sabres are another story. How dare they put a guy on their roster that can handle any fighter my Bs put out there. I mean, how are we expected to break Vanek's ankle and concuss Miller if they have a fighter? The league should suspend their whole team.

Jagr should get a good cheer from the crowd tonight. It's always nice playing a classy team like the Devils.

Who's complaining? I just think it's unfair they got someone like that. Maybe Marchand should give em his pattented spear to the junk then dive. That'll show that lumberjack what's what. Right boys??? Hit em high and slash em low! Julien will come to the rescue with his wicked sweet press conferences.

Don Cherry said he feels bad for John Scott because he is just doing his job. Interesting take on the hit I thought.
