It would've been nice if he had developed into the top-pairing beast that we need, especially at his age and with his size.

But he didn't. If the Flyers moved him tomorrow, I would wish him the best. He wouldn't necessarily be easy to replace, but he wouldn't be impossible to replace.

Injuries aside, i have never seen a professional athletes game decline Like his has from ages 23-28

I don't think he'd be hard to replace.

That suggests that he was at his best at 23. And that's clearly not the case with Coburn.

Whatever the age. Over the last 4 years. Rapid decline when it should be the other way. Don't remember anything like it

I would disagree with rapid decline. Coburn is still a solid defenseman.

Once Hartnell and Lecavalier are back, I wouldn't mind seeing the lines changed to try and spark the offensive production. Under 2 goals a game is not going to win many games in this league.

Chemistry is a funny thing and trying out different combos might spark something even if it's for a couple of periods or games.

Hartnell - Giroux - Lecavalier

Read - Schenn - Voracek

McGinn- Couturier - Simmonds

Raffl - Talbot - Rinaldo

I personally prefer Lecavalier at Center on the 2nd line, but why not? Anything is worth a try.

Regarding Lecavalier, he always ends up on the right side in the O zone (5 on 5 or on the PP) where he looks comfortable. He's great at keeping the puck on zone entries and has similar qualities to Jagr (Not a lot of dump and chase, keeping the puck in the O zone and allowing space to linemates).

The Flyers position has certainly changed. But that should make Schenn and Couturier more untouchable, not less.
- MJL

With Vinny locked in for five years and Giroux a Flyer until the end of time, seems a little silly to hang on to TWO more centres who you want to play on the top two lines.

I think Coburn played his best hockey when he was paired full time with young(-er) Kimmo.

Kimmo before he lost a step was a damn fine defenseman. Made everyone around him better.

Even at half speed he is still mostly good.

Brayden Schenn has played on the Wing for most of the Season. And I personally think that he is better suited for the Wing, not Center. And there's nothing wrong with having depth and strength down the middle. Similar to the Pens with Crosby/Malkin/Staal in the past.

As a LH shot he has a better angle of the net from the right side.

Ok I've posted a black concept jersey of mine in here before and it got a lot of s, so I figure I'll try again with a different concept I just made. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this:

- JAKEw1234

It looks like a golf shirt they would sell in the team shop.

Still waaaaaay better than I could do, though.

Flyers need to wear Quaker jerseys for a game.

Yes, I agree. But some apparently wanted the Flyers to purposely lose. I'm just wondering how that is accomplished. How a Coaching staff or team management would go about doing that. It's great that Morin is looking impressive.
- MJL

pretty easy, i would think. all the players who required surgery after the season get sat down to "rest" once making the playoffs is impossible. what player isn't banged up enough where it would be obvious they were not injured. the famed lower body injury epidemic.
not saying i wanted them to but i would not mind seth jones as a flyer right about now

Adam Oates disagrees.

And looking at Ovi's rebirth, it's hard to say he is wrong (although I think he is wrong).

How many players required surgery? Have you considered Salary Cap issues such as possible bonus overage issues, and off season Cap issues for 2 way players used during the Season?

Those players may disagree, but we're discussing Lecavalier, and he clearly favors the right side of the ice. And in my opinion it's because of the reason I stated.

And Adam Oates was a RH shot.

Frankly its unbelievable that any fan would advocate for their team to tank games to get a better draft pick.

- MBFlyerfan

if the team was ok to good then, no; but if it's a matter of being bad and getting a mid pick or losing 4 more games at the end of a brutal season and picking 5 spot higher and getting a stud at a position your team is weak at?

timonen i think. even if it was just choosing to sit players that were hurt, it would not be that hard to do

Oates moved Ovi because....

Oh, forget it. The train has left the station without you.

Sens did it to get Daigle.

And in case anyone had doubts about what they were doing, the Sens put Daigle in the front row for the final game.

My apologies, I did not catch on that you were discussing Oates as a Coach. So sue me.

But regardless, that has zero to do with what Lecavalier prefers, and why I think he prefers to set up on the right side. Which is who the discussion was about.
