The sad thing is the heat people took for saying Marty should be traded. It is sad that they want assets to diminish and not get anything for them. I guess most of you are ok with not getting the most out of our investments. If I am Lou and someone wants Marty I am absolutely listening. What more can he do for us and if a team is willing to give a valuable asset for him then don't be stupid its this type of loyalty that is killing this franchise. I don't give him away for free but he is of no use to us anymore. I am sick of not getting anything for these players, Parise, Clarkson, we can sure as poop put Marty on that list. It's bad business and it is exactly why we are where we are. To much loyalty in every single way. Loyalty to guys needing to be resigned who bolt, Loyalty to old players who play like poop on a regular basis. The only loyalty not going on is the loyalty to the future of this franchise and its fans. - blizzzard
With our luck whoever we trade Marty to he would shut us down every matchup |

Really talking about trading Marty.... For one no one will ever give us anything to make it worth our while.42 years old in his last year and doesn't look so hot right now.
He's the best player to ever put a devils Jersey on in his last year and your actually suggesting trading him? Have some class the guy is old i know it sucks. But you don't (frank) him over just because Lou (frank)ed up with Parise and Clarkson. Brodeur deserves the loyalty and you should be slapped for trying to compare Parise and Clarkson's situations to his. He is on a list of his own have some respect for the guy who has given his entire adult life to this franchise...He needs to be the back up now that's the only problem here. |

I don't think his feelings would be hurt if he was moved at the deadline to Montreal as a reliable back up for a play off run if Price has a bad game. Why does it matter if he is moved ? he will still be the greatest ever, he will still be first ballot HOFer, we will still retire his jersey nothing is being taken away from him if he gets traded? he will make just as much money. This is a business and the guys who are the smartest succeed. I am up for anything that makes this team better. I know Lou wIill never move Marty but seriously if it makes the team better why would you be mad? the guy might decide he isn't done and won't except being back up and sign somewhere else for next season ( Unlikely ) but he can. Lou needs to start being like Billy Bean and trading the useless players the coach goes to every single game so he finally can't put this guys out. If Pete isn't going to do whatever it takes to win then start moving his favorite players so he has to play the best guys. |

Brodeur is playing worse than Hedberg was last year. His save percentage is laughable.
Rough year. NJ might start to win some games, but this is getting to a point where it might just be too late. They need 7 wins in a row just to pace themselves for the playoffs. Awful. - archromat
Which really just highlights how gutless this team is. There has really been no improvement in effort from game to game, even as we keep losing. No one has gotten pissed, no one aside from the 4th line last night has been making second and third efforts. Its a soft team full of players who have guaranteed spots and a weak captain and coach. |

i said prior to the season starting that if your coach is serious about winning, he won't care about stroking marty's ego and he should play schneider 60+ games this season. a lot of people agreed. as fans of a struggling team, sucks to see your coach not playing the guy who deserves to play just because he doesn't want marty to catch feelings. - RAGSareDANGERus
Worst part is that this isn't just happening in goal. |

Without Bernie that 4th line does nothing last night. He should have C stitched on his chest. Only guy to work hard shift in and shift out. Never accepts losing a battle. People need to follow his lead. |

Well considering if we get anything of value for him how would it not ? He isn't doing us much good right now and if he doesn't play again after this season how do we not win that trade ? If you get a 2nd round pick for a 42 year old Marty Brodeur and he plays 15 games with MTL and gets one last kick at the can how is it not a win win for both clubs ? I won't be upset if he doesn't get moved there enough players that need to go before him. My post was about people being mad if he was traded and that to me is just silly he doesn't have more then 20 games left in him. It is IMO an easy move to make? something that helps the club moving forward coming our way for a player that can no longer help this club. I don't see the big deal you guys are putting way to much stock into being a Devil forever. Mike Modano left the stars, Alfie just left the Sens you don't get a prize for having a player on you're team their entire career. |

I really think Lou should consider bringing in another GM to give him a second opinion. Someone not emotionally attached to these guys. |

Yep pretty much. No fight, no anger, no emotion whatsoever at all. I remember many moons ago when Daneyko was still playing...Marty made some bad play or said something to him and Dano lost his mind on him. I forget the exact game ....but....point being is that no one on this team looks like they could give a flying F about the game. At the end of the season, the league doesn't add up all the games you think you should have won and add those points on. WAKE UP! |

I guess not being from NJ you don't understand truly. How you want to trade only star to always stay loyal to the team and the fan after watching guy after guy leave blows my mind. I'd rather him stay and help Schnieder along kid still needs to learn how to be a winner he learned from Lou his entire NHL career. And your actually thinking a 2nd for Marty is possible is hilarious at best a 4th rounder. That doesn't help us at all. Your right you don't get a prize except respect for your organization like the Red wings did for having Stevie Y be a lifer. It's special for the fans and having you live in canada i guess i understand why you don't get it. I've watched him since I was a kid going to games and it's been great. Just cause times are rough now doesn't mean I forget about the amazing memories and moments his given because they are countless. He deserves to stay here cause he wants to stay here. Should end with that he has earned that right. He is the only one who deserves that. Not my problem Lou has grown soft on everyone else. Im frustrated with that too. |

I agree with this he is one of my Fav Devils. I was thinking last night about if an entire line had ever been traded to a team haha I mean I don't imagine anyone of Carter Bernier Gionta bring you anything on their on but if you traded the entire line haha I wonder what we could get lmao it's like you can't just trade One Hanson brother you need all 3 to be effective. |

They don't hate to lose that;s the (frank)ing problem. There is a difference between wanting to win and playing not to lose. They play wanting to win but don't seem to really care what happens. It's obvious they have no balls. |

Bernie is being held back by them if you ask me. Gio has stone hands and gets pushed around in the corners and front of the net so easily. His hustle only gets him so far. Carter has been too lackadaisical he is usually more engaged and aggressive. But they brought more than anyone last night...how pathetic is this team. |

I agree with you. But I think just the name alone gets you a second. It's a moot point because he won't be moved. I don't think Where I live has anything to do with me being able to move a guy. It doesn't make me any less of a fan because I can't physically be at 30 games a season. He has earned to stay here. But I just don't understand getting upset if he plays 20 games for another team his legacy will always be in Jersey. I shouldn't have any less of a say in the team as you because I wasn't born in NJ. I have never cheered for the Leafs even though they are an hour away and have been a Devils fan for 17 years ( I am not an old guy ). I buy the jersey's I have been to games. I think I have earned a right by investing the time I have into following this team. It just doesn't make sense to me if you can get something for a player that can possible contribute for 10-15 years for a guy who won't be here more then a year and half whether is Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky or anyone I would do it. I don't think I would shop him but I am listening to teams if they are inquiring. |

Yep....and it didn't even look like they wanted to play like that until the 3rd. But that could also be BC of soft goals let in. Anyone who knows hockey knows that bad goals can deflate a team. But on the other side of that, when Cory was in the other night and making saves, it looked like the team in front of him could have given a crap. I just don't get it. Someone needs to step up and actually call the whole team out...stop this pansy talk about " o well we did some positive things tonight". Such garbage... |

I think Bernier is this best of the three for sure I think he wouldn't look out of place on the second line for a couple games here and there I think he has shown there was a reason he was taken in the first round and he might not be the player SJ planned he would but he is a very reliable player. |

Soft goals can deflate a team, but if you're 0-6 the motivation to finally win a game should overcome the soft goals. As you said, it took until the third period for the team to realize they were in danger of losing the game. |

I hang up the phone guess we are different there. I didn't mean it to make you sound like you were less of fan. But more that you might not get how much Marty has meant to the state itself. Most of the franchise's success is because of his contributions and without the success hockey as a sport would of never grown in NJ. He has meant a lot outside of the rink besides all of his on ice contributions. |

I don't think it has as much to do with location or dedication to the Devils but more the fact that we would be two different types of Gm's if we where. Like I said my main point wasn't really about me thinking Marty had to go it worse more about me thinking it shouldn't upset anyone. |
