My thoughts on the game: Zadorov was our best player by far. He had excellent skating, I did not see him lose a single puck battle, he went for big hits responsibly, and he had some excellent passing. We haven't had a guy that can make a clean, accurate breakout pass from the D zone to the opposing blue line in a very long time. Zadorov did it a number of times. I'm more excited for him than Risto, actually. Zads was supposed to be a long-term project, but has obviously disproved that.

Myers looked solid. He showed streaks of his rookie self, and was passing a lot better than usual. He battled pretty successfully along the boards, and overall just did his job.

On Grigorenko, he showed his abilities pretty well. He played responsible, disciplined, and made some nice moves. His passes were smart, quick and accurate as well. I remember one sequence where he deked through about 5-6 people clustered at the blue line seamlessly, all while staying onside. He also went to the net, hustled, and won more puck battles than he has in recent memory.

Now on to the bad: Weber was pretty bad, but not as absolutely pathetic as Tallinder was. Weber chased the puck, missed passes, had terrible point shots, and lost battles all night long. He even pushed Downie directly onto Miller's leg. Weber decided to hug Downie as an odd form of punishment... Tallinder was just like Weber, only 10x worse. He was doing nothing but chasing all night long, and made Myers look like the veteran on that pairing.

The goal Landeskog scored where he walked right in between Weber and McBain was awful

I hate to say it, but Weber wasn't the worst guy on that play. McBain was just USELESS. He flat-out gave up trying to skate, and left poor Weber to chase Landeskog. It really disappointed me, too. I thought McBain had looked much better than I expected in the previous games.

Isn't Burke President of Hockey Operations in CGY? What would Calgary want to do with Buffalo? We're both in the same boat...

McBain doesn't do much. However Weber is back to 2012 form where it's minor penalties, laying down in front of the goalie or throwing the puck nowhere. Sucks too because he could have been a guy to pair with Myers. Instead he's stuck with Tallinder

Not really. I'd bet they've also asked about guys like Foligno, Larsson and Girgensons just to see if there's a chance they could find the right deal.

Keep Miller and get Vanek the (frank) out of town.

I laugh at anyone of you guys on this board that cried and wanted Vanek to wear the C.... Girgensons, Larsson, Ennis... all these young guys are making him look pathetic with his work ethic.

I wasn't expecting much, but this definitely gets my hopes up. It shows that EDM is ok with settling for someone other than Miller, and that they want to do business. It's up to Darcy to not be stubborn.

Don't get your expectations up to high. Even if a deal is completed, and say it is for a Yakupov caliber player, it still won't change the trajectory of the team this season or next. Were heading for a couple of #1 picks, if you haven't already, prepare thy self for it.

In year 3 of the full out rebuild, you should expect a much more competitive product on the ice.

I'm sure Burkie has an out in his contract with Cgy. if a GM position opens up.

I'm not sure how I feel about that...

I feel that Burke and Pegula would be a perfect match. Tonto is/was a tough market for Burke to operate in. He took grief up there (from me included) but he brought in some nice FA's and made some nice picks. Not a fan of the Kessel deal...

It'll never happen.

I'm absolutely prepared for losses. My only problem is with Rolston seemingly trying to destroy our rebuild.

I know its all doom and gloom but SERIOUSLY guys

Our longest tenured coach was let go.

You really think Rolston has a secured job with this team?

He absolutely flamed out tonight during the interview. If Im anyone in the organization my eyebrows are raised. Throw as much crap as you want at Pegula or Black whatever but they are not in this business to have their investment really screwed with like Rolston apparently is. Its another waiting game like it was with Lindy last year. Rolston will not make it through to deadline day.
