To be fair, some guys just, especially young players aren't as energized when playing 4th line minutes with the grinder/tough guys. He should be in the AHL getting tons of minutes IMO.

So true . just as buf19 said too.

You're right, but unfortunately one of the worst rules in professional sports prevents this from happening.

Oh, my bad didn't realize he wasn't eligible yet. I'm guessing the best solution is to just force feed him top 9 minutes then.

Yeah no kidding. You're not making the playoffs this year just (frank)ing put him in the top 9 and leave scrubs like Flynn or whoever off the PP.

Never seen a team make so many passes into the feet in my life.

Especially on the powerplay..

Meh not really. They play a tighter box in the d zone but I haven't noticed a marked difference in it. People will point to Burrows and Shredder going down but those were on the PK. Gonna happen.

Watching the Rangers struggle makes me wonder if the team was bad and Torts made it look better with a virgin tight system. Because the team sure hasn't done that whole 5 guys in the lane thing in Vancouver.

Yeah, the TB fans on this site said that his system in TB wasn't as defensive orientated as it was in NY so I think he adjusts his style base don what he has to work with but still stresses blocking shots as part of playing 100% at both ends.

It's a bad situation. He's clearly not ready for the NHL, but way to good to go back to Juniors. He belongs in Rochester for sure, but that isn't an option.

I don't get why they didn't even entertain other coaches. The display out there is bad. It is on the coaches when passing is this bad. I can understand when you are outplayed but they are just bad.

Even when he first got to New York it opened up a lot more. It was only like the past 2.5 seasons where things turned into blocktoberfest.

They're very indecisive with the puck. They're making the right passes but they make it about a half second to a second too late. That's all on coaching. They're hesitating. They did it in the Islanders game as well. The only difference is that, no matter what they did last year, the Islanders aren't a very good team either so it didn't hurt them as much.

He should go back to junior. This is doing nothing if hurting him being here right now.

The system Torts ran in Tampa was an amazing things to watch! I remember him being completely outspoken regarding his hatred towards the "trap." He even said that his team would never play it as long as he was the coach in Tampa. There were games when they were sending in 3 guys on the forecheck. Fun to watch, but I guess you can do that with the stars that he had.
