Rask will not be dealt. That leaves Subban and Svedberg neither are a immeadiate help to them.

You can make the argument that Petry is on the upswing and Myers has been on the downswing, however Myers seems to be returning to form

Petry over the past two seasons (including this season): 3.2ppg -9

Both have been playing on awful teams so the comparison is fairly close. Here's where Petry sets himself apart, though:

Myers has 150 hits and 132 blocked shots in those 102 games
Petry has 251 hits 226 blocked shots in those 126 games

Still fairly even, but I give the edge to Petry.

Issue is though is 40 of those games were by far career lows for Myers. I agree Myers right now shouldnt be anyones best defensemen (neither should Petry) but Myers ceiling is pretty high. As far as a trade goes, his contract kills the value he could hold

And that's what I think I was trying to get at more than his actual standing as a Dman. His contract- along with Stafford's Horcoff-ian deal- just made that trade awful. Ryan Miller was the only piece in that deal that I think the Oilers would have any interest in and he's a pending-UFA.

Would love Kane. There was a rumour about him coming here last year. We need another guy big guy because we have a good core here....just need size of top 6 with more jam, although Galchenyuk, Eller, Pacioretty is a decent start

IMO if they do trade Myers, it has to be for a guy like Yak, a super skilled young forward. If Myers plays well I can see his value skyrocketing. You have to figure with the cap going up soon his contract wont be an issue if hes playing well
