Cooshie just being a Richard as usual, but no your offer is not even close. We don't want a goalie prospect. We would want someone to play NOW. We have better D prospects than Siemens on the way. And we are up against the max # of contracts. Cant take 3 back for one. - Iggysbff
Iggy may be the worst of the whole Oilers crowd. I actually think he might be Clouts in disguise!!
The guy is the most unrealistic Oiler fan out there with incredibly delusional expectations.

I figure the return for Yakupov would be slightly less than that which Seguin was dealt for. Probably a top 6 guy and some good but not spectacular prospects. - fudd1689
Yep, I was thinking the same thing when I saw Seguin brought up in the last post. Don't tell Iggy though, he thinks Yak is worth every teams best player. |

Seguin had 3 years in the league and was beginning to establish himself as a good player. I just cant see how Yakupov's half season justifies a large return. Again it's a stupid argument because I highly doubt he is moved. |

Any move involving a big named player is doubtful but if the Oilers don't start to win soon enough, you gotta think they have to do something.
In terms of Yak vs. Seguin, I would take Seguin every day of the week. |

Why exactly? Yakupov played essentially 2nd/3rd line minutes last year and it worked great. Seguin played several years of 2/3 minutes in Boston and it wasn't inappropriate. Same with Staal in Pittsburgh.
Notice that those two were eventually traded, but A) it wasn't an egregious use of them while they were with their original teams and B) it wasn't 55 games into their NHL career! - Morris
Just players with that much talent should be getting 1st line minutes. It is more a problem for the oilers when he asks for 6mil because he could argue he is worth that as a player (and as a 1st rounded it is a fairly solid argument). He is just a 1st line sniper.
It also isn't a good fit because usually you want your 3rd line to be a shutdown line that can play against and shut down the other teams top lines (something that the oilers have been needing)
Staal could at least play a strong 2 way game as a center and the B's just had too many good players to where they didn't NEED to trade Seguin until the time was right.
The oilers have a ton of holes and an abundance of top 6 forwards, so it makes sense. |

The problem is they think they can adequately fit those holes with bottom 6 players.
Edit - Meant that they think they can adequately fill those holes by trading their bottom 6 players for those players. |

We do? Give me an example? Most of the regulars on the Oilers thread are pretty realistic, including Iggysbf, not sure where or how we figured we can turn our bottom 6 forwards into no1 goalies or top pairing D. |

Oilers fans would be kidding themselves lol. I wouldn't personally take a chance on Yak as it would be too much of a risk. He the type of players avs could use as a sniper but our team is doing really well atm and we just spent the past 5 years trading away all of our players with personality issues. Mackinnon will be 10x the player Yak will be imo.
I just think the deal I offered was fair given it addressed EDM's issues in a top goalie prospect, a top defensive dman with size who plays a shutdown game, physical 2nd/3rd liner who can help them now to take yaks place and a 2nd. All being around the same Cap going back and forth. I think its one of the better offers thrown out so far.
I can see why the oilers would ask for a ton in return but atm he doesn't look as appealing unless a GM is really trying to make a move to save his rear. - Meeqsb

We'd be very happy with a little less than the return Seguin got. But you're not taking about that, you're talking about Yak+ for Lehner. Out at least you were until changing your tactic suited you |

No, EDM would still have to include hemsky, they'd be over the cap im pretty sure.
Let me try and re-work this then... I forgot EDM traded the 2014 2nd rounder.
So Myers+Miller for Hemsky+Smid+2015 2nd (Conditional 1st if miller signs an extension) - iAvery
No, no, no, no......... Hemsky sucks, smid is a 4-6 dman, and a second rounder is pointless to us, weve got like 6 in the next 2 years....Myers still can be great, and miller is great... |

Really? Again, maybe some Oiler fans think that, but not too many of the regulars on this board thought we would get much for those guys. I guess the Erat to Washington trade made us all kinda wonder a bit ( its not that unrealistic to think Hemsky could have gotten the same return as Nashville got from the Caps), but most of us were pretty stoked when Mac T was able to move him for peanuts.
Sabres fans (some , not all) are similar with their expected returns for their 2 impending UFA's are they not? |

Dont even get me started with the erat trade lol that was a joke. Correct, some sabres fans are being un-realistic. I do however think they both have good value right now the way they are playing. |

No Miller was great.hes playing well right now, but he has not been the same goalie that was lights out in the Olympics for a couple years now. There are probably 15 goalies that have been consistently better in the NHL for the past couple years. |

Seguin is also a center with a cup so he is more valuable for that reason. Although he had some personality issues as well so it is a recent and feasible comparison. He was part of a package though so that has to be taken into account. |

He has struggled in past years, but hes playing for the USA job now. Hes been lights out this season, 2.39GAA and .939SV% on the worst team in the NHL. Hes facing on average 39 shots per game, thats playing well? |
