Of note, Leafs 2013 1st round selection Frederik Gauthier hasn't quite set the league on fire with him posting zero goals and only five assists in the opening seven games.
5 Points 7 games a bad thing? ................ah there assists, they don't count I get it

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, so forgive me if it has. I don't think anyone gets moved until we see that actual full roster play atleast 10 games. This could be late november or early december depending on injuries. Leafs have not played with a full roster yet. I think that if they find after havign played enough games with their full NHL roster they may move Raimer and maybe soemone else for prospects or picks...depending on the trade partner. I would think Leaf management would want to end any debate on goalie starter asap. That way when the playoffs roll around there will be no distraction. - CBH17
This.
Keep calm and wait to see how things are going.
Bernier could get injured next game and you'll be glad you have Reimer as a backup.
Besides... not that many teams are looking for a goaltender, let alone a young one like Reimer. |

The Leafs can spew all they want about not having a #1 goalie and that they'll go with the hot hand....however they gave up quite a few assets for Bernier when they already had Reimer and then extended Bernier for more money than they gave Reimer...actions speak louder then words..... - jimbri

It's official now then - BUST. - 1979AD
0 goals in 7 games. That translates to 0 goals over the course of a full season.. Yup, he's a bust..
maybe time to trade him for, oh, I don't know... Teemu Selanne? |

Or maybe for Sheifele - 1st round bust for 1st round bust? I mean, he had 0 points in 4 games for WPG last year. |

I agree...depth is a concern, but I think they need to try Leivo. Interesting to see how important a good 3rd line is and that effective 3rd liners are not that easy to replace. Reimer - it's early, but maybe. He needs to be playing well to trade, and if he's playing well he may not get traded. - Woderwick
I find it funny that leading scorers in the A come up here to play the 4th line.
I would have called up damigo to play a checking role |

Yeah, he's pretty solid defensively.
I'm not a fan of getting guys like that with a 1st rounder though.... you may end up with a Kyle Chipchura or Joe Colborne. |

Why isn't he a potential 60 goal scorer? The glaring hole is a 1st line Centre, not winger. If I was making up rumours like Berger did, I would make up a better one. - 1979AD
If you are going to say he may be a 60 goal scorer that would make your argument even more ridiculous |

They have only lost one game. And it was a close one. I don't think anyone gets traded unless the crap hits the fan (which I don't think it will) or someone offers a great deal.
Been a good start, and they lost to a good team.

I'm not sure anyone's calling for a trade because they lost by a goal last night. I think it's because the team has some valuable, but expendable pieces that could be used to help fill a weakness. |

there are not many good goaltenders that aren't locked up or that will/would be moved from there respective teams. Bernier will be #1, Rimer shouldn't sit and watch on the bench he is a #1 Goaltender but if he sits to long his confidence will fade with a few bad back up games to fallow he'll be a back up for life. he won't be long before requesting a trade he's to good to sit. young or not there's interested teams |

Even if the Leafs wanted to trade him, not that many team would see Reimer as an upgrade.... I know you guys like him and he can play well for sure. But how much better is he that a team would give something decent for him?
And you have a guy like Miller who will probably be available as the season ends... |

Agreed, It will be interesting to see if a deal does happen who they can get. I'm sure after a while some teams are under achieving, some nice pieces could become available. |

for the most part I agree I don't think they will get anything much more than a 2nd rounder he's to unproven yet. I guess the point I was that trying to make was that he'll remove him self (trade request) and I don't blame him.
Miller has supposedly been on the move the last two years now and he still has say as to where he lands. |

I'd like someone to dig up the number of players drafted who played the majority of their pre-nhl games as a center and ended up a winger. Seems as though many can't handle the pressures of being a top centerman in the NHL |

I don't think pressure is what prevents some to remain a center, I think it has more to do with the many defensive responsabilities you expect out of your center, especially since the game became much more about coaches having defensive systems in place.
Another factor linked to this is that players get in the NHL at an younger age than ever before, asking them to perform offensively while not being a liability in their own zone is way easier as a winger than a forward. |

And if you could name a top line center that would be available, that has the same mix of age, talent and potential and plays for a team that needs a goalie and a defenseman, I'm all ears.
The Leafs have a future number 1 center on the team right now, he just needs more time to develop his overall game. |
