Ask French and how it went me and him last year when we were in favour of offering up Kadri or Gardiner+ for O'Reilly.
I would still offer up either one, plus another asset for O'Reilly!
... yeah except for that cap issue.

Carlyle can suck a bag of Richards
Does anyone hear actually have any evidence of Carlyle dissing Gardiner? - MapleLeafsFTW
Carlyle invited a bunch of people over to watch Twilight, eat Haagen-Daz and braid each others' hair.
Gardiner was not invited. |

A native Canadian woman went to the market to buy some rugs for her kids (two sets of twin boys) to play on.
She ended up buying a hippopotamus rug and two bear rugs. She placed one of the older twins and one of the younger twins on the hippopotamus rug, and the other two kids on the bear rugs.
So the sons of the squaw on the hippopotamus were equal to the sons of the squaw on the other two hides. - Atomic Wedgie

It's not Carlyles' fault that Gardiner has had a slow start. He's just a bit shaky.. I wouldn't worry too much what is being speculated. Carlyle outwardly said that Gardiner was one of the best players on the ice in game 5 and 6 during the playoffs.
He mentioned he struggled quite a bit after his concussion. I pretty sure Carlyle doesn't "hate" the kid for playing poorly - this isn't high school.

I think you're right. But Carlyle's ego can get in the way sometimes. |

The sad thing is that all of our top tier prospects have to endear the constant scrutiny. How many times did Kadri have a mic in his face asking him about his future in Toronto. They are just kids too, that's one advantage about the smaller market teams. - MapleLeafsFTW
Exactly. We all know what tactics Toronto media likes to dream up for juicy stories and rumors. Except that when these opinions surface everyone pulls the alarm, runs around with their head cut off.
Not literally. (AW, for you) |

Which will be a problem with most/any trade discussions involving Toronto this year...they just aint got any room. |

I dont know about that, because I was part of most of those convos if you recall...many people felt that Kadri just didnt have it in him to be a legit, full time NHL scorer...I havnt found a person on here yet to say that Gardiner doesnt have the talent, its just that the Leafs have too many offensive Dmen and he might be the victim of a trade because of it. - Colin Dambrauskas
I think that what happened with Kadri is a bit more similar than you are suggesting. My impression was that people thought Kadri had the offensive tools as well but it was a question of his defensive game, which is the same situation with Gards. Maybe Kadri's offense was a little more questioned as you are suggesting though. |

I'll admit I was never a supporter, but I did believe that he would improve - just not on Toronto.
I was wrong and we're probably wrong about Gardiner.
BUT!
The fact that we have quite a few offensive defensemen on the team makes for a potentially legitimate rumor... |

It's also kind of our fault for reading the ridiculous articles that they publish as well. Generates them money, so why wouldn't they keep doing it?
I wonder how much money cbc, or the Toronto Sun make off of something like this... |
