I don't know, both have had flashes of brilliance, still raw/young/undeveloped; Gardiner's older, but played college; both haven't played that many NHL games (Couturier has played 40 odd more though).

I'm not writing off Myers either, but he's played over 250 games now; he reminds me of Luke Schenn's progress (different players): great rookie year, up and down since then, not where people thought they would be by now.

Gardner can barely play in the NHL, Myers can barely play top minutes right now. Little bit of a difference

Except Myers has had a roster spot since he was 19. He has won hardware and plays 20 min a night against top competition. Can't compare the 2

What questionable trades did Gillis make? Schneids for Horvat? Kassian for Hodgson?

Hodgson was never going to be a canuck. Too much conflict between management and agent/daddy. Besides we couldn't fit his current salary under our cap so he was out of here anyway.

My team desparately needed an injection of youth. Our cupboards are bare.

I think Bo is going to be a great player. But hey, you tell me. he plays in Ontario so you must hear about him more often than I do.

While I agree that Gillis got decent returns given the circumstances... they were circumstances that he created. Not enough cap space for Hodgson? Poor cap management. Couldn't trade incumbent goalie to make space for younger better goalie? Poor asset management

Mackenzie said that the Leafs are looking to trade a dman for help at forward. He said teams were calling on fraser. he's injured now, and I don't think they'll get much for him. Also said that teams have called about Gunner in the past too.

Then minutes later they played the clip with mackenzie talking about that, and made it sound like a deal was imminent.

Didn't cite it as a reason. Relationship between Hodgson camp and Canuck management was the reason.

But in hindsight it's a good thing Hodgson was traded because Cody latest contract negotiation would not have gone so well for him in Vancouver.
