First off: Teams calling doesn't mean trades to follow.
Next: This is Toronto the media will screw the team every time! When you have good team chemistry and you're winning there is only so much you can write about, and seeing as the Toronto Media needs to validate their jobs, we can guess turmoil is better. Why do the people talk to these idiots anyway? More people live off the Leafs in this city than the entire Team's payroll would take care of.
Gardiner has interest? Of course he does!! The entire Bruin team backed up when he had the puck. They were afraid opf his talent and had no idea what he was going to do, unfortunately neither did his teammates.
The Leafs have depth and talent now. They may not be able to win the cup yet but wait and see what pieces they actually need before giving up this crap. |

It's also kind of our fault for reading the ridiculous articles that they publish as well. Generates them money, so why wouldn't they keep doing it?
I wonder how much money cbc, or the Toronto Sun make off of something like this... - MapleLeafsFTW

He's a hockey coach. Close enough I guess. - Bigzby
He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that lets emotions dictate who gets to play. Otherwise Lupul would have been gone last year. |

The sad thing is that all of our top tier prospects have to endear the constant scrutiny. How many times did Kadri have a mic in his face asking him about his future in Toronto. They are just kids too, that's one advantage about the smaller market teams. - MapleLeafsFTW
Very sad, and the main reason we can not delvelop our own talent most times. |

I don't like making hypothetical trades but I think there is a fit with TOR and COL. Avs are loaded up the middle but thin on D.
Duchene for Kadri and Gardiner
Yes there is a drop off from Duchene to Kadri but O'Reilly isn't tradeable yet and is an ideal 2C, not to mention Mackinnon was drafted to be a 1C. Leafs get an upgrade in the middle. Maybe draft picks get mixed in but... everybody wins? |

Dude, put your sack in a wheelbarrow and go find a better joke. - Aetherial
So I'm driving through Prince Edward County, and I see a sign at the front of a farm: Talking Dog For Sale.
So I go up the driveway and knock on the door. A guy comes to the door. I say, "Do you really have a talking dog for sale?"
Guy says, "Yeah, sure. He's out back - go take a look."
So I walk out back, and there's a black lab with grey on his muzzle sitting in the yard. I walk up to him and ask, "Can you really talk, dog?"
The dog replies, "Yes, I can."
"Wow," I say. "That's incredible. Can you tell me your life story?"
"Sure," says the dog. "When I was just a puppy, I discovered I could understand what humans were saying. After a bit of work, I also figured out how to talk. My owners figured out that I was destined to be more than a farm dog, so they sold me to the Canadian government. I got trained by the RCMP to be an undercover officer, and for a few years I worked on their biggest assignments. Because nobody ever suspected that I could understand what they were saying, I could infiltrate biker gangs and drug cartels. I'd sit under the table of meetings, and then afterwards report what they were doing. I made a huge difference - many, many busts later, I became the most decorated dog officer in the history of the RCMP."
"That's amazing," I said.
"Yeah," continued the dog. "So the CIS heard about me, and naturally they wanted me to work for them. So I ended up being part of the team that figured out where Osama Bin Laden was living. But it was really, really dangerous. I was in the house when the Navy Seals made the raid - I got hurt pretty bad. After months of physical therapy for my injuries, as well as a lot of time to treat my post-traumatic stress disorder, they retired me the farm here. I'm just not able to do that kind of work anymore."
"You are an amazing dog," I said, and walked back to the front of the house.
I knocked on the door again, and the guy came back.
"How much for the dog?" I asked.
"$100," said the guy.
"Only $100???? For that dog???? How could it possibly be so cheap?"
"Because the dog's a liar," said the guy. "He never did any of that crap." |

I dont know about that, because I was part of most of those convos if you recall...many people felt that Kadri just didnt have it in him to be a legit, full time NHL scorer...I havnt found a person on here yet to say that Gardiner doesnt have the talent, its just that the Leafs have too many offensive Dmen and he might be the victim of a trade because of it. - Colin Dambrauskas
Because you have depth shouldn't be a reason for trade. These are pros, and they realize they are under 1 way contracts which allow them to be paid the same if they are up or down in the organization. If they want to win a cup they must buy into that.
The media here will make it impossible for Liles to be recalled, because they don't believe that to be an option. If the playoffs roll around and injuries are a factor they may be able to afford to bring him up to the extended roster. |

I really don't think anything happens. The media is just upset the Leafs haven't imploded or something so they need to speculate about trades instead. At least talking about that gives them a negative spin about coaching or poor development, etc.
Anything can happen and I'm sure trades are usually being talked about, but I doubt it will lead to much. No point rushing guys out the door especially at this time. |

I personally don't like the trade, I am happy with Kadri, and I think Gardiner's upside makes the deal too dangerous. |

Roy leads the team in prayer every intermission?
I think he worships goalposts though. Remember when he used to talk to them? |

Simply speaking, you don't need to make trades when you're 3 - 0 to start the season.
Edit: Also, the coach and GM will do what they want regardless of how media or fans view a particular players worth. |

One making less money as a stopgap until Mackinnon is ready then they can roll a dirty 1-2-3 punch or wheel Kadri again for another asset. |

Yes... because players like being tossed around like a beanbag. It's not like there is a players union or anything. |

Although I think there is zero chance of Kadri being traded to the 'lanche, I'm going to have to reject your suggestion that the players' union would or could do anything to prevent Kadri being traded and then traded again.
There's nothing wrong with that. |

This Gardiner a goner talk needs to end... 3-0 to start the season, Carlyle working with Gardiner, it'll all come together...
I'm thinking Phaneuf, Franson, Gardiner and Reilly is a good looking top 4 group in a couple years... |

I'll agree with the post saying there is no chance of this happening but isn't this a site dedicated to trades that seldom happen haha.
As far as him not liking it? If I may be blunt... What would the Avs care if he was pissed? He'll be sour after they trade him. Big deal. Hard to poison a room when you're in a different city! |
