Not exactly -- the teams only move guys with "red flags" -- questionable character, long-term losing, heading to free agency after years of carrying a franchise with no real success.

Right now, the Flyers should be able to call the Edmonton Oilers and say, "Edmonton? You are small down the middle, but have skill on the wings. We have Sean Couturier. Let's talk about Jordan Eberle or Nail Yakupov, come up with some type of package that helps us both."

- AllInForFlyers

Well, look...Flyers traded away two red flags and without them, LA wouldn't have won the cup let alone make the playoffs. They only took off after the Carter trade. A bad fit/bad situation on one team might be another team's tipping point. I don't discount the red flags, they're still elite players. I'd only discount them if they have a history of being traded because of their reputation.

And we absolutely agree on that -- that's where the risk tolerance comes in.

You can't be scared to take on Marian Gaborik or Rick Nash or Ilya Kovalchuk or Thomas Vanek, even if sometimes, it doesn't work the way you'd like.

Because that kind of elite talent...it just isn't easy to come by. In fact, it's really, really difficult.

We are absolutely in agreement on that.

The Flyers look more like a team thinking about playing hockey instead of just playing hockey.

Lava does seem to be a problem, but what if G isn't that good of a C? There seems to be multiple problems.

If we keep playing like this we're not gonna have a 1st at our own draft.

i'd say before any major player changes are made bring in a new coach then evaluate where we're at after the season unless someone really wants to overpay

They're not going to have the patience to groom anyone if this how the Flyers are currently playing.

Not saying trade G or anything, just throwing out there that Lava might not be the only problem.

If they get the first pick, Homer won't be GM anymore.

Even as one of the most ardent Fire Laviolette guys, I don't feel the coach is the only issue.

There are other issues, but I don't think they can be properly evaluated without a change in coach or strategy
