Ok, the Darcy thing is horribly depressing. It really makes me worry that the Sabres org. is a bunch of half qualified suits just happy to collect a sweet paycheck(just like the Bills) and all they have to do is keep Terry happy, which doesn't seem to be difficult. Is really hard fotr me to figure out where Terry's head is at.

His head is in his business philosophy. He pretty much said in his opening press conference a couple of years back that he believes anybody can be successful if put in the right situation, which is why I believe he is sticking with Regier, who seems to have sold Pegula on a long term plan. I don't necessarily blame him for sticking with him at first. I don't feel I have the right to tell anyone to drift away from the philosophy that made him rich in the first place (provided he does it morally and ethically of course). However, eventually, you have to learn that you're in a completely different industry. Professional sports is cutthroat. It's "what have you done for me lately", and if you don't adopt that attitude, your ship is going to sink.

The worst regular season record in Sabres history was the 1971-72 team with a 16-43-19 and 51 points. Is that challenged this year?
- mhp

Yes. I was thinking the same thing last night. IMO they are bad enough to challenge the worst record in franshise history.

That said, Bob McKenzie tweeted this earlier:

" Based on purely anecdotal experience, what often happens in the 1st two weeks of the season is not indicative of reality (??). Again, not scientific but my rule: Pay no attention to 1st two weeks of season, but 3 weeks is a trend and after 4 weeks ?? Book it ! Just IMO".

That's why I refuse to get too upset so far. With the exception of last season, most of the really futile seasons of the past half decade or so have actually had some pretty fast starts (2008-2009 and 2011-2012 come to mind). Also, remember, the last year they made the playoffs in 2010-2011, they had a horrendous start. The one thing I take from this is that this team is young and inexperienced. They're going to get better. Now, whether or not it will be good enough to make a significant difference is a completely different argument. These kids should learn a lot.

All we need right now is a solid 60 minute effort and a win. It better start on Tuesday vs. TB.

The effort was fine on Friday. I think Rolston's temper tantrum was more of a lame attempt at a motivational tool than anything else. They just couldn't finish. Unfortunately, I think that's going to take a while to fix. It's about confidence right now, and nobody really has any.

Agree. They're all definitely gripping the sticks a little tight. Someone needs to loosen them up. John Scott is NOT the right guy to do it.

it's lack of talent

vanek is a second line player on a great team
staff is poop
myers is a 3/4 d man paid to be top pair
ott is playing on the second line instead of the third line
and we are below average with top 2 line centers

It IS lack of talent !!!!!

Many on here will disagree but it's truth. The success or failure of your powerplay is indicative of the talent level on your team.

'Nuff said.

We have TB and Columbus this week and if we lose those 2 games it will get ugly. This is a dysfunctional organization at this point. Some fans say tank for Reinhart. There are no guarantees the Sabres will get the #1 pick. And Reinhart will not solve this team's ills and until ownership recognizes the disaster in the front office and keeping losers like Stafford on this team, it's gonna be a huge sh!t sandwich and we're all gonna have to take a bite.

This diet of "sh!t sandwiches" has become tiresome.

I will have to agree Pairo.
The talent level on this team at this point is frightening.
So glad we are close to Halloween.
Miller and Enroth are the only way this team will win games it appears.

They really need to put Ennis in the middle and move Grigorenko to the wing (or even the pressbox). Ennis, even with his defensive shortcomings and struggles in the faceoff dot, is much more effective up the middle.

I'm seeing improvement in Grigo's game.

I didn't think I would be saying that after watching him last year and in the preseason this year. If I'm RR I'm not moving him.

I honestly hope it is. This would only piss me off if we spent to the cap and management believed they had a winner. 71-72 sucked, but just a few short years later didn't.
