I'm not as high on the "trade everyone over the age of 25 not named Christian Ehrhoff or Steve Ott and compose this team entirely of players drafted within the past 3 years plus those two guys" as everyone else is, but if anyone should have been traded for the sake of a trade, it was Stafford. I still think he might have the talent to be somewhat of an impact player, but it won't be here.

Apparently it's not serious though. I bet it has something to do with that one save in the 2nd period and he played the rest of the night. It was visible there was some discomfort, but he also fought through it and his game didn't drop off at all. I think it's more about making sure they don't have to put him in at some point tonight than it is about the injury.

He was seen as one of the bigger steals of the draft even before he started playing out of his mind... Was supposed to go in the mid 2nd, and we got him in the 5th.

No team speed + no forecheck + no sustained pressure + hanging back in our own zone = lots and lots of disappointing losses like last night.

with 10 minutes to go, the Sabres were playing like they were trying to protect a lead....we all know how that ends up more often than not.

I highlighted the ones that are most egregious items that you mentioned, however, the one that annoys me the most is the hanging back, lack of overall aggression they display, and it was perfectly on display for Ottawa's only goal, where Clarke MacArthur was given all day after he entered the zone for no explicable reason. If he was engaged, and had pressure applied, the goal very likely never happens. Infuriating!!!

Unfortunately for all, the help Miller needs and has needed for a while is being traded. It might just be the best for all involved.

Considering that everyone thought that this team was going to be a train wreck, things could look much worse right now. It's a young team and it's very early in the season. They played 2 teams that are expected to be leading the playoff team talk and lost by a combined score of 3-1. Things could be much, much worse.

While I would like to see defensemen stand players up entering the zone a little more, I don't mind the "hang back" strategy. You can't play "up-tempo" because you simply don't have the talent to do it. And they still managed to record 35 some-odd shots. Ottawa played the exact same game after the first period. Both teams pretty much had to do it because the first period was a free-for-all. And if it weren't for some great goaltending, that game could have been 6-5.

During the 3rd period I actually thought we had the better chances. Anderson was just really on last night. Nothing Miller could have done would have prevented that goal. How they let Karlsson get so open is just crazy to me.
