I think most in our organization are holding out hope that we can turn into a team like Pittsburgh. I on the other hand don't see that happening. They need to build a team that can score and defend.

I don't think one player will fix this team. I'm thinking this is a multi year failure before we move anywhere near being a playoff contender. I think the issue also stems deeper than just players, management needs to be shaken up.

Say that to Jonathan Toews and the rest of Chicago. He single-handedly turned that franchise around. They were in even worse shape than us, too.

Those two guys added to our team would make us a playoff contender.

That's just two out of who's already on the team. I'm not saying if we got those two we couldn't make the playoffs, but I think we need more than just them.

The biggest issue is this team's ridiculously delusional sense of pride. We aren't going to be contenders for a while, management, so swallow your pride and tank for the sake of the rebuild. If we don't get a top 5 pick in this next draft, we're pretty much wasting an entire season of the rebuild. Outside of Reinhart, Ekblad, Nylander, McKeown, and Virtanen, (who will probably drop due to his size) the draft isn't incredibly deep. We need the type of difference-maker that only a top draft pick can get us (see: Toews, Kane, Malkin, Crosby, Ovechkin, Nash, Stamkos, Tavares, Hall, Duchene, Doughty, Pietrangelo, Staal, Huberdeau eventually, etc.)

Agreed. You can't pull off a rebuild in 10th place. Isn't the draft lottery changing this year though ?? I don't remember the specifics but don't all teams have a better chance at the first pick?

They used it last year. I think the worst team has only around 20%/25% chance to retain the pick. That's why Colorado won it last year... And instead of moving up 4 spots like it usually was, the lotto is for #1 no matter what.
