I find that particularly disturbing given who their #1C is.

The issue as I see it is this. Fan fatigue, period. Fans have hit the proverbial wall with this team. I have been a Sabres fan for over 40 years now. I have to be honest and say I barely watched any of the first two games. Reason, I knew exactly what we as fans would be getting before the first puck dropped on Wednesday nights season opener. You just have this sense that there is a big void in this team and organization. There is no spark from top to bottom, no catalyst for change. The majority of the faces have changed on this team in the last three years, yet the results are the same. When I say results, I don't mean just wins and losses, I mean attitude and direction. The young kids, Girgensons aside at this point have shown the same lack of compete we have become accustomed to associating with the Sabres of the last half dozen years or more. With a young team, progress is not measured in wins and losses, it shows up in the little things on the ice. WIllingness to fight for "good ice", ability to win wall battles, a sense that they are in it together and have each others back. Anyone that has watched this team in the last few years can't answer any of those areas with a "Hell yeah!" we've turned a corner. On the contrary, I see a team that is complacent and directionless. I don't blame the players, I blame management. When Terry Pagula assumed control of this team his words were "Starting today, the Buffalo Sabres' reason for existence will be to win Stanley Cups. From that day till now, this franchise has gone backwards as far as the on ice product is concerned. While I agree with Mr. Pagula's attempt to create a family atmosphere within the organization, I struggle to find anyone at any level of this management structure that has the sense of urgency that comes with accountability. Not that I condone the outburst of Patrick Roy in Colorado's game vs Anaheim, but you have to admire the man's fire and desire to win. That is contagious, and exactly what a young team needs. The combination of an emotionless GM and coach has not only put the fans of this once great franchise asleep, it apparently is doing the same for the players.

For what its worth, Reiger was responsible for building the best team in franchise history. The team's performance isnt on Reiger as much as you guys think it is. Bringing someone new in isnt going to make things change overnight.

A former 40 goal scorer cant hit the (frank)ing net, doesnt work hard along the boards and corners and plays absolutely zero defense in his own end. Yet the majority of the fan base was happy and wanted him to be named the team captain.... yeah lets be mad at Reiger about that.

So you can't let go of a guy who built a good team 6 years ago who didn't even win the cup?

Grigorenko is a non factor. To be fair he is 19. It took Kadri a long time too.

And as this season goes down the tubes - he needs to just be put out there and he figures it out - or he needs to be dumped

I absolutely do not expect the kid to pile up the points, but for CRIPES SAKE, SKATE LIKE YOU GOT A PAIR!!!

He skates around like he's playing a pickup game.

Show some damn enthusiasm, passion, sense of urgency.

Watch guys like Galchenyuk, Yakupov and Huberdeau. Even in his rookie season Kadri hustled his arse off.

He wouldn't be on a line with those cement heads if he would just compete and hustle.

It's not that hard.

It doesnt matter who the GM of this team is at this point. We can fire Reiger and it will still be 5 years before we see the results we want to see. The previous owners set our franchise back when they didnt want to pony up the money to sign one of Drury and Briere, or even both in the name of breaking even and not losing money. Nearly every top team right now has built their team through top draft picks. Either by developing them, or by trading them away to strengthen their team. Detroit is the only exception.

It's funny, six years ago these two teams were on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Rock bottom may suck, but if we want to be where our opponents are, it's really the only way.
