Leafs fans are so touchy

The Leafs are a young team trending upward. If everyone continues to develop and there's no long winless streak, there's no reason for them to regress from where they finished last year. I don't know why everyone thinks Grabo is all that. If he were the player everyone thinks he is, he would have played himself off the 3rd line and put up points. He didn't. Get over it. If he does it with Washington it isn't because he was used better. It's because he finally started playing hockey. If he breaks out this year we have to think 'where they hell was this guy last year'? Stop blaming Carlyle for Grabovski's failures as a player.

Those are two fairly significant caveats, but again, I agree.

I don't that any of us are in a position to make that call. First of all, not every team uses its third line the same way. In Montreal, our third line is a scoring line. In Toronto, especially last year, and double especially under Carlyle's system, the third line exists to play hard, forechecking, defensively-responsible physical hockey. And Grabo did that, to the detriment of his production.

Get over it.

I think he's certainly more motivated. But I do think that each player has a particular skill set that's most conducive to a particular style of play. Grabovski is a top-6, offensively-oriented forward with skill. Sure, he's responsible enough defensively, but that's obviously not his forté. So by playing him as the top-6 forward he is, rather than the third line checker he isn't, yeah, Oates is using him better.

We have to? Seriously? Because I'd say most people will say, "Oh look, Grabovski reverted to the norm. Guess last year was an aberration.
