I get that, but the regular season isn't the place for tryouts and experiments. Either Rielly makes this team or he doesn't. The 9 game sample size does nothing for anyone but sets the guy who will eventually replace him back when he is finally able to join the team.

The only place he shouldn't be playing is in Juniors. He won't learn anything from playing another year there, needs to get used to bigger bodies for the NHL.

That's why he's signed for 2 million. Perfect signing. If he shows up and plays like he did last year for the full season - give him 3.5 - 4 mil a year. Wouldn't you say so?

These 9 game tryoutwhateveryoucallit, is pure nonsense. Just make a decision and roll with it from the start.

If nothing else, it shows him what its really like, and how far he still has to go.
