Well it's just more evidence that he's a good player, you can say a guy is good because he had one good year but that's not really proven, but when a guy has a couple, or a few you can start to feel even more comfortable about him, get the feeling that "yeah, this guys the real deal".

I like him too, I think he's going to be a beast for us, hopefully for a long time.

does anyone think one day down the road he and phaneuf could be paired together 5 on 5? provided they are resigned of course

yeah i think so.

nonis already said he has to get 12-15mins a night for him to be willing to let him stay.

- Dozzer

I think they'll send him back later td, or tomorrow, just letting him know that he made their decision tough.

see thats the thing

i dont think he has.

last year he was a bottom pairing d-man playing against third and fourth lines

lets see how he fares against better offensive players before we decide to put him up on a pedestal.

- Dozzer

I'm not claiming that he's any sort of trophy but he most definitely has improved from the time he first arrived. Let it be known that I actually didn't like him to begin with. He arrived with a sense of entitlement, when he smarted up and began to play for his job I changed my mind.

it affects the entry level contract
- Flyfreaky

I get that, but the regular season isn't the place for tryouts and experiments. Either Rielly makes this team or he doesn't. The 9 game sample size does nothing for anyone but sets the guy who will eventually replace him back when he is finally able to join the team.

i understand what its for.. it just annoys me

what if the kid gets exposed over his lil tryout and it hurts the leafs coming out of the gate?

there is more at stake here than simple player development

- Dozzer

Expect Clarkson's move will hurt more than Reilly. If Reilly's play is poor don't need to have him stick around for nine.

I guess we just wait and see. Cheers

I'm sure they have considered these risks and wouldn't allow him to play some games if they don't think he could handle himself.

i agree about the 9 games...I think it should be 15-20...I like the idea cause it gives teams time to see if they have the potential to stick around or need one more year to mature

Maybe, he has a knack for the right place/right time stuff. I think next season is more likely.
