Lander actually outperformed Acton (albeit with better linemates) both in possession metrics and by eye. He was sent down because A.) he's young and giving him more minutes in OKC to build on how he ended last season could prove beneficial long term, B.) he's on a waiver-exempt two-way contract, and C.) Eakins wanted to stick with someone he knew well rather than a young, relatively unknown.

Nope. They got rid of them, which is good news for both sides. Teams don't have to worry about losing their player and players don't need to be worried about being stuck in the AHL because the team doesn't want to lose the player.

That's good news. It never made sense to me, especially if a player is assigned to the AHL before the regular season starts, why they would have to go through re-entry waivers. If he was sent down during the regular season, i could understand the re-entry waivers then.
