I see your guys argument, and i watched him play a lot because he stood out. Jones is one of those guys you like and are rooting for because he's exiting and he'll mix it up a bit. You are sad to see him go, but you're better off without him.

As did I. But if you Nike on your ass and Gatorade as sponsors. This is what i expect to happen. Just unfortunate that Gustafson couldnt finish him. Not sure how Jones would react to losing. His plan isnt to fight for a long time. He just wants to make money and move on.

I was wary of you after the Smyth for captain blog, this confirms you do not want what is best for the Oil. You are stuck in the past. Yes Jones is a great guy. He is great with the media and has major heart. The problem lies with his play. Eakins said very clearly that each player held their own fate in their own hands. The fact of the matter is that Eakins was true to his word. The three worst oilers players in the preseason were Omark, Lander and Jones. They all bought THEMSELVES a one way ticket to OKC. As for Acton and Hamilton. I don't believe Hamilton had that great of camp either; however, he was better/comparable to Jones. As for Acton, no wonder he made the team, which center would replace him? Lander proved himself to be a waste of time. Definitely not the prospect we all had hoped for anyways. In conclusion, I do not see Nepotism at all! I see a coach looking forward and trying to bring the best possible team forward, which based on this preseason should not include Jones.

Lander actually outperformed Acton (albeit with better linemates) both in possession metrics and by eye. He was sent down because A.) he's young and giving him more minutes in OKC to build on how he ended last season could prove beneficial long term, B.) he's on a waiver-exempt two-way contract, and C.) Eakins wanted to stick with someone he knew well rather than a young, relatively unknown.

Jones was one of my fav players. But who cares? Yes he can score but who cares? I honestly don't care who makes this team or doesn't as long as we finally have a winning season. If jones needed to be sacrificed to satan or the waiver wire it makes no difference as long as we get to win this season.

He has an MBA, and he seems smart... I think GMs/hockey people are typically overrated with regards to knowing what to do vs not knowing, but I have confidence in MacT.

All that being said, I couldn't give a sh1t if Jones, Omark or anyone else ever plays in the NHL again.
