Dude did you read anything that I wrote? I just agreed with you that Nash isn't on par with those players. You said that Nash hardly ever does anything dazzling or "wows" you. That's quite the contrary because Rick Nash has scored some unbelievable goals. Idk if you have ever put on a pair of skates but it takes a ton of (frank)ing talent to do what he has done with the puck... Just saying. - adwolf130
I'm just saying he doesn't have me on pins and needles whenever he has the puck. He has highlight reel goals and top talent for sure, but, on a consistent basis, nothing about him stands out. He just doesn't do it for me, personally. |

Guy, most of recoginze JT is better. - blacksheep1
It should be 100% agreement since its not even close. Whats funny is Ranger fans (not you guys) yesterday were saying Stepan is not even that good. Now today these guys are saying Stepan will be top ten in the league and better than JT. |
|
|
|
Let's not get blinded by allegiances. Tavares is better. But I'll take Stepan over a lot of other guys. - blacksheep1
According to our Flyer friend, Stepan is better because if you take the goal scoring away , Stepan has better numbers and is better defensively. |

Bure actually wasn't a bad defensive player. He used his speed plenty of times to make a backcheck. He was just so incredibly fast, he didn't need to hang in the neutral zone to break free, he could do it while still being a part of the 5 man unit. - xcheckmajor
You could also argue that, most times when he had the puck, he didn't have to backcheck because they were preparing for a faceoff at center ice.
I think he and Bossy may be the 2 purest goal scorers ever. There were times they had the puck and you could just see they were gonna score. |

Not for anything I can't even compare Stepan to Tavares. I think Tavares is with Stamkos, Crosby, Kane, Toews, Datsyuk, OV and Malkin and then there is everyone else. That's tier 1 for me and then it drops off. |

Taking goal scoring away, I'll take Tavares' leadership skills. But that's just me. |

JT is very good in his own end. Very underrated in that category. He is -2 because his goalies are possibly the worst in the league |

Funny how that works. Goal scoring can bee used to talk down NYR player but not talk up. |

I admitted that Tavares really has no offensive ceiling right now, that makes him Elite and Stepan not quite yet. But if JT doesn't keep outperforming each year in the future (note we don't know the future) and he continues around a point per game player, well then Stepan can match that and still offer more in other areas of the game. All indication is that Tavares will continue to improve his numbers, and really Stepan shows the same type of pace, but yes, JT has a higher ceiling because of his offensive skill set. |

What makes you so sure Stepan will become a sure thing ppg player year after year? JT has proved he can and will continue to be better every year. Step not so much. JT has elite hands that very few have or will ever have. He also has this crazy win at all cost and be the best in the world attitude that cant be taught. |

Anyone, Flyers/Isles/Devils fans included, who doesn't think Lundqvist is a top-3 goalie is blinded by hate. To me, it's between him and Quick for #1, Rinne's a distant 3rd, and then there's the rest...
...and then there's Bryzgalov. |

Tavares is most definitely not in that caliber of player. Really, your talking about players that came into the league scoring over 100 pts in multiple seasons in their first 3 years. Your talking about players that scored 50-60 goals in each of their first couple of seasons. Tavares is just hitting the point per game mark now 4 years into his career. I'm not a Tavares hater, he's actually one of my favorite players. A really good guy and team player. I just don't understand the label people are putting on him already, its absurd. |

Actually, his career path if following Toews' very closely. Almost identically, if not better. |

I didn't say Stepan is better, nor do I believe that. But, I do think that stat line is better, in that a +25 is absurd. Tavares was a Hart Finalist with that stat line, which is very comparable to Stepans. - Pete V
It has more to do with goaltending and the defense, not JT's play. He can't single handedly keep other teams from scoring or cover 3 players simultaneously. He's not that good.
Most Ranger players have better +/- than Isles players b/c Hank's lower GAA.
JT was also always on the ice when Isles down one- goal with the goalie pulled. |
