Yeah, islanders management is known for making quick changes when a player is sucking it up.

After the annual 10 game losing streak he will send Poulin down and bring up Nillson

I've been worried about our goalie situation ever since we resigned Nabby. Neither Poulin or Nilson will make it any better IMO.
- SCLI

This season you are correct... but after a season of starting in the A, Nilson will be more then ready next season.

Dan Petriw: The Barclays reality; an evolution of a fan base
- Dan Petriw

While I agree with you on the idiot that said moving to Seattle would be better, I disagree with you that isles fans need to evolve as a fan base.

I have gone to over 30 games a year minimum the last 10 years and there are a large amount of people that do the same. While I'm certainly happy the isles are staying in the area, this move does make it very hard for the 8,000 people that go to almost every game able to do the same in Brooklyn. Door to door, the game experience from Huntington will take more than two hours longer. Getting home at midnight or close to it on a weekday is very difficult for a working person or family person to do when getting up early the next day. I'm not saying I won't go to ANY games but you can count me out for 35+ and I have a feeling that the season ticket holders in Nassau and Suffolk (which makes up for over 70% of the season ticket market) will mostly all agree .

Not to mention the building is a joke for NHL hockey. Downplay the sight lines and the lack of tailgating and the lack of parking all you want, but that's a big deal . 15,800 seats for hockey and 3,000 are pretty much a disaster.

Also, note that there are NO plans to fix this issue as quoted by a nytimes article.

So while I will continue to root for this team and love them, count me out as one of the fans that will go to every game. It's just not viable and possible from western Suffolk. You have to take a 5:11 train from Huntington during the week to arrive at a game on time and the earliest train home is a 10:44 from Jamaica which might get me in my door at 11:40 pm. 7 hours door to door. As opposed to 4 to 4.5 now.

and I disagree with you Way too much whining coming from Islander fans all the time about everything. It's embarrassing at times. You know what it sucks for you personally that you get home a couple of hours later and you won't be able to go to as many games but honestly I don't care about you or the other fans it affects. Not saying that to be a dack either just being honest. I care about the Isles and what is best for them not what's best for me. I live in eastern long island exit 68 off the expressway much further out then most Islander fans and you will never hear me complain about the commute to a game. You know why? Because I'm just thankful that we still have a team. I'm not going to be selfish and whine about how long it takes me to get back and fourth when guys like Dan had their team leave them behind and start over new in a different city. I'm not attacking you at all bro, I'm talking about all Islander fans. If you don't like it stay home and watch the game. I don't want to hear any crying about it. Ranger fans from the Island make that commute all the time. Ever go to a yankees game? Giants game? Knicks game? Listen Islander fans were spoiled for a long time because it was a short drive for some. Those days are coming to an end. Crying about it is not going to change it.

It'd be hysterical. I would have a whole new respect for Snow if he did it but with that said am I the only one who thinks Stepan is good but not that good?
- Cptmjl

Remember all the hype of Kreider after '11-12 playoffs? He was back in Hartford by Christmas last year. Stepan won't get a OS and each day he waits will impact his season and performance. Not to mention a greater likelihood of injury because he's not in camp and won't be game ready when the season begins.

My main point is that I don't think it's going to be a lock that Brooklyn is better. If the majority of people that go to a lot of games feel the way I do, then where are the fans going to show up from ?

Again, I'm not "crying." I'm just saying how it is and how it is sucks for most fans that go to a lot of games.

I've been to about 8 Yankee games in my life and I'm a mets fan and go anywhere from 2-5 games a year for similar reasons. It's farther out and my work schedule doesn't allow me to go to more in the summer.

I also find it interesting that DeHaan & Lee are with the Bridgeport Squad.

DeHaan didnt impress enough to beat out Hickey, Carkner or Strait? Has he still not recovered?

Also, 7 centers listed on that NHL Forwards group?

- SCLI

This list doesn't surprise me that much... DeHaan I think has to get some Healthy time in B-port unless he BLEW them away during camp. I find it more interesting that Reinhardt gets to hang around a bit longer. Carkner would be gone but I think he has a 1 way deal and can't just be sent down (is that right?).

Goalies... I think Nillson is same situation as DeHaan.. has to spend some Healthy time in AHL till he has the possibility of a call up. Nabby is our starter.. and Poulin will get one more legit shot to prove he can do it.

Lee.. I agree he has had a good camp but after the short look he got last year he was destined to spend some time in the "A". He was out of position a lot in his short stint.... silly not to send him down.

One way deals have nothing to do with waivers. A 2 way deal just means a player gets paid a different salary in the ahl then the NHL. But yes, Carkner would need to be put on waivers

If I am correct and someone else jump in if I am not. I think one-way deal just means the amount of salary they get paid in the AHL is the same as NHL. He is old enough and has played enough that he would require waivers anyway but I don't see anyone picking him up.

EDIT: Beat me too it and it seems I am right...I would like to see Carkner sent down and buried he brings toughness but is too much of a problem defensively to make it worth it.

Carkner was a healthy scratch almost all of the last 30 games Ottawa played in regular season two years ago. Thought he would be a little better and maybe he will be when season starts. I like his size and his efforts in protecting teammates. But as a defenseman he lacks talent

Fair points but why shouldn't we have to adapt? Also It wasn't really directed at you. Politics for sure killed it but that's the way it is. I've always felt the potential to make more money for the Isles would be to locate more towards the city then to stay in Nassau regardless of a new arena on the island or not. Ultimately the fans will decide if the arena works for them. You said close to 3,000 seats were bad. That's not really accurate because on twitter you said the seats were high up and just because you didn't like them wouldn't mean I or somebody else wouldn't like them. Obstructed view is obstructed view I get that. Also the coliseum sight lines are probably the greatest in any arena around old or new, but every new arena has lost that and I think BK keeps it somewhat because its small and steep and not large and out if that makes sense. Time will tell I guess

I work in Manhattan so it will be much easier for me to go to a game on a weeknight. I'm not alone.

The move will be harder for some and easier for others. It is what it is. We still have our Islanders! You guys are all howling at the moon at this point.
