A lot of LIers seem to view anything west of Great Neck as an entirely different nation. It's happening, folks, so either get your passports in order and venture the extra 20 miles to the foreign land of Brooklyn...or just don't go.

You know how many times I've sat close enough to the top of the Coliseum where I had no idea how much time was left in the period? And people complain about (frank)ing sight lines. Jesus Christ.

But you could still see ALL of the game... just saying

All I can tell u is I was at the game when they retired Trottier's number against the Sharks and I was sitting 3 rows from the top. Damphousse scored with like 8 ticks on the clock and none of us had any idea how much time was left on the clock.

It's not A minor inconvenience, it flat out sucks. Plus. There are definitely seats at the Coliseum where you can't see everything. No asbestos is a big plus too

Potvin, first you want people to take the trains to the game and now you insult the asbestos at the Coliseum. Is nothing sacred to you?

Here we go...I was just about to lose my sh*t on this subject anyway, so thanks for giving me a venue to actually agree with someone, instead of arguing with the idiots I've been talking to over the last few days. The bottom line, Dan, is that Islanders fans have two issues: we are cheap, and we like to b*tch about everything. Can't build a skyscraper; who needs a baseball stadium; can't build $400K condos near Garden City because blacks might move there; don't raise my taxes $15 a year for the first thing being done in Nassau County that might actually be worth my tax money......and, why are the Islanders moving to Brooklyn?

One view of the seating map of that new building tells me I don't want anything to do with any of the seats on the left side of the arena. I didn't need to go there to be "horrified" by the "obstructed view" of the CLEARLY LABELED "limited view" seating, which I bought because I was too cheap to squeeze more than 400 nickels out of my a$$. As for the ride there, how do all of the Mets fans get to Citi Field? How do they get to the swamp to watch the Jets? I don't hear anyone complaining about that.

The team NEEDED revenue in order to remain in this area as part of the NHL. The franchise WANTED TO REMAIN IN NASSAU COUNTY. All Nassau County and Hempstead did FOR TWENTY YEARS was d*ck them around....not just Wang, but every owner we have had since Pickett. Some of the fans of this franchise seem as though they would honestly like it to remain cr*p forever, playing in an asbestos-riddled dump, as long as the tickets are $20, and they can get home from there in five minutes......I guess, in the end, it's just more fun to b*tch about how much they suck.....since b*tching is what we do best.

EDIT: I'll put it to you another way....you know what Brooklyn means to me? It means that I'm likely going to get to see John Tavares spend the bulk of the significant part of his NHL career wearing an Islanders uniform. If that means I have to give up my scoreboard-obstructed, $19 seats, I'll make that trade, any day. I'd love to have seen them stay in Nassau, too, but that isn't going to happen- and if you're going to blame the franchise for that, you haven't been paying attention for the last....well, pretty much forever.....

Awesome. Maybe this will keep him out of the line up and make him a little disgruntled? . Over a half million bucks you're going to piss your first line center and mock him bcs he's following his agents advice? half million bucks? This is awesome

I hope for Sather's sake he didn't go there. Whether the Rangers are right or wrong in their negotiation position, its still a negotiation. Stepan's camp has a right to seek the best deal for him. I'm sure Stepan would rather be on the ice than off it. It is never good when parties to a negotiation make it personal.

Sather's Comments... from Jan's blog

“He’s into a gap contract and every one of our players has signed a gap contract,” Sather said. “They don’t have arbitration rights. When he goes through this process he’s going to have all those rights. You look at the football players in the NFL that are quarterbacks, they’re making minimum wage. You know, they get paid after they get through that time. I find it a little frustrating because some teams are in a hurry to sign these guys that are in gap contracts to big contracts. I always say it’s because the managers panic or the owners panic. It’s unfortunate that Derek has decided to listen to his agent instead of realizing that he’s in a situation where he’s going to get paid, it’s just not today. I hope he gets a little wiser about this decision because every day he misses is going to hurt. Matter of fact, we’ve offered him a very good deal. He turned down our qualifying offer, we could have stuck with that. So he’s got to start to smell the rose and figure out what’s going on. I hope he does."

Looking at the Leafs cap situation, even if they shed $2mill of cap space they still have under $3mill.

We could get Franson for a 2nd round pick if we offer sheet..

THEN we can also get Stepan for $4mill and a 1st and 3rd!

Speaking as a Rangers fan from Long Island, we know whats its like to be a fan of a Team that doesn't play locally. If the Isles fans wanna complain, lets bring up the fact that NO NY team plays on Long Island. What happens when you wanna go see the Mets? Gotta go to Flushing. The Yanks? Head over the Throgs Neck to the Bronx. Wanna see the Jets or Giants? Forget it, gotta get to Jersey. Knicks or Nets? Same thing. Seriously Isles Fans, go take your complaints and hide in a corner somewhere.

Its bad enough that Wang tried desperately for over a decade to get a new arena. He's tried every which way possible, privately funded, publically funded, multiple schematics for the Lighthouse project, and each and every time, Hempstead (more notable Katie Murray) has basically said, go f- yourself. NASSAU DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE ISLANDERS AND THEIR FANS. So take the Barclays as a blessing. You got yourself a brand new arena in a very nice area of Brooklyn thats booming with business. You HAVE public transportation that gets you there. You'll HAVE a team thats not bankrupt. You'll HAVE the ability to draw the best players. You'll HAVE your historic rivalries and they'll be MUCH better. So here's the world's tiniest violin playing for ya, Islander Fans. I'm sorry you can't fist pump in your Mustangs and Camaros all the way to the game anymore.

I believe u are confusing Islander fans with Jersey shore? You said u are from Long Island... and yet the fans are all from Queens?!!

I was 1000% sure the Islanders were going to Quebec when they started to build that arena that was going to be done by 2015. This was always a pleasant surprise to me. I may not get my season tickets that I have had since 1999, but I can still take my kids to 5 or 10 games a year pretty easily.

Now can we get our own Cable channell please so they are not the 7th string on MSG depth chart... tonight we have Rags game, Devs game, Knicks game, Liberty game.. so the isles will be on channell 775 HSN network 3.

then maybe a real radio station to pick them up instead of Hofstra? ... nah.. to much to hope for..
