Looking at the Leafs cap situation, even if they shed $2mill of cap space they still have under $3mill.
We could get Franson for a 2nd round pick if we offer sheet..
THEN we can also get Stepan for $4mill and a 1st and 3rd! - Danformo
With Strome, Nelson and Sundstrom waiting, is it really worth a 1st and 3rd for Stepan? Plus, ticking off one of the richest teams in the leagues history? |

It's not happening to the point where it's not even worth speculating about |

Would be worth it for the laugh... and to watch Larry Brooks talk about how much he was overrated the next day.. .but No it makes Zero sense for Isles and not going to happen. (now if Henrik is available in a year... maybe) |

It'd be hysterical. I would have a whole new respect for Snow if he did it but with that said am I the only one who thinks Stepan is good but not that good? |

What Sather comments? - Cptmjl
Ken was talking about how the Isles should be good and only have to worry about goaltending. Maloney got a little mad and started saying they may be on the cusp but they wont make it. Not good enough this year Its funny because he is so predictable every year. Never gives the Isles credit. In fact I think he may comment on this site under the name Rangerdanger |

The three musketeer ranger fans will be in here saying how he sucks and is overrated. How Brassard is a better player etc. |

I was 1000% sure the Islanders were going to Quebec when they started to build that arena that was going to be done by 2015. This was always a pleasant surprise to me. I may not get my season tickets that I have had since 1999, but I can still take my kids to 5 or 10 games a year pretty easily.
Now can we get our own Cable channell please so they are not the 7th string on MSG depth chart... tonight we have Rags game, Devs game, Knicks game, Liberty game.. so the isles will be on channell 775 HSN network 3.
then maybe a real radio station to pick them up instead of Hofstra? ... nah.. to much to hope for.. - niteislander
Maybe a move to the YES network where the Nets are or possibly SNY? But the cable contract they get from Cablevision is pretty lucrative. It would have to be a really good offer for the team to move off MSG networks to another station.
As for the radio, this is the upgrade I heard they were considering:

Biggest homer on MSG. The guy hates fighting and thinks the Rangers will be cup champions every year. I swear you would think he is a commenter on Hockeybuzz |

A new channel for the Isles would be awesome, But this franchise is sunk (Even in Brooklyn) without that Dolan paid Cable contract.

From IPB
The Islanders have divided training camp into two groups today; an ‘NHL’ group practicing at the Coliseum and an ‘AHL’ group practicing at IceWorks. According to Arthur Staple, here is how the NHL group shakes out:
Forwards (15):
Moulson, Tavares, Bouchard, Bailey, Nielsen, Okposo, Grabner, Regin, Martin, Cizikas, McDonald, Boulton, Strome, Nelson and Sundstrom.
Defenders (8):
Hamonic, Visnovsky, Hickey, Strait, MacDonald, Donovan, Reinhart and Carkner.
Goalies (2):
Nabokov and Poulin
Injured (1):
Clutterbuck
The Islanders will have to cut the roster down to 23 players for opening night. Clutterbuck could be placed on injured reserve, not taking up a roster spot, which would mean that 24 of the above names would be on the roster. Things could still change, but it looks like of the five young players at the Coliseum today at least three of them could be in New Jersey on opening night. |

IDK how Garth can expect either of the two backups to be serviceable. They haven't proven anything in the NHL, and in the ahl they have been average at best. If we lose games because our backup goaltenders are terrible and our starting goalie is mediocre we are in trouble. This is a team that is ready for the next step. Garth still has time to find a competent goalie.I would hate to lose games because we only scored 4 goals but the other team scored five soft goals due to poor rebound control by Poulin. - mighty13duck
I also find it interesting that DeHaan & Lee are with the Bridgeport Squad.
DeHaan didnt impress enough to beat out Hickey, Carkner or Strait? Has he still not recovered?
Also, 7 centers listed on that NHL Forwards group? |

Wild put Jon Blum on waivers today. I don't think the Isles would put a claim in but they should |

I think they want to see what Poulin has and I also think he will be on a short leash...they will have a legit number one next year |
