Nobody is (frank)ed. We lost a young player with 83 games under his belt and an AHL player, big deal. Kesler will have a monster year!!!

Careless stick swing by Kassian results in serious injury to Sam Gagner = double minor + suspension for remainder of preseason + suspension of 5 games in regular season.

David Clarkson jumps off the bench to keep Phil Kessel's head from getting turned into John Scott's speed bag = automatic 10 games.

Careless use of skates by Matt Cooke, a player who has been suspended 9 times which should have been 10 for ending Marc Savard's career, results in serious injury to Erik Karlsson = no call.

You give 10 games to a guy who is attempting to keep his teammate from getting hurt by a guy that can barely play hockey, then you give 5 games to a guy who misses a bodycheck and accidentally clobbers another player with his stick on the follow through, and you give nothing to one of the worst repeat offenders in your league when he inflicts a SUPPOSED accidental kick to the achilles tendon of one of your marquis players.

Bravo NHL, bravo. It's the commitment to consistency that your fans love.

Meh-the only thing consistent about the NHL is its inconsistency.

Absolutely true. Still, I find it silly that Kassian got suspended. The double minor, I totally understand. But you cannot prove intent, and even though Gagner is hurt bad, which honestly blows, they set the precedent of not suspending on intent when Richards got nothing for trying to decapitate Booth, when Cooke ended Savard's career, when Cooke intentionally kicked Karlsson, etc, etc, etc.

I'm just saying that it seems to me like the double minor actually penalized the play on the ice, and the suspension...well, I don't get the suspension.

Especially if Kessel doesn't get anything. Scott might not have got hurt, but you can't question the intent there.

I agree that Kassian and Weise are not big losses.

I was responding to Booner suggesting that if Kesler were to get injured.

Goes to show just how much of a "country club" atmosphere this club offers to its players. Players are being exposed.

At what point is it no longer bad luck?

Look at the Jays pitching staff constantly needing shoulder surgery... Coaching and conditioning has to be the problem.

Gillis had to recall Hamill.... calling up that kind of depth when other teams are still trimming is kind of hilarious...

Todd's writing, consistency, and professionalism is leaps and bounds better than Ian's in my opinion. I don't come here for journalistic coverage, but it feels good to have a somewhat professional take of our favorite team on hockeybuzz.
