Why is luck in quotations?

Ottawa fans should be careful assuming Anderson maintains anything near his performance from last year. He was awesome...but his career has been so inconsistent. The year before last year he was pretty average.

And Lehner doesn't scare anyone.

Luck, random chance, fortunate bounces. Whatever you want to call it.

Very few people agree with him keeping the pick, but there is sound logic for why he did keep it. Something we have explained far too many times

If it has anything to do with the league repealing their decision then it's hardly sound. Anything other than that is garbage, no matter which way you spin it.

Only gets brought-up in regards to one team though.

The Leafs made the playoffs because of goaltending. No one wants to point that out because it looks even better now.

The Leafs were literally 30th every year in goaltending until last season, where they had some of the best statistically. Yet no one mentions that.

When another team has a good goalie who is injured, it's bad luck. When Toronto has a good goalie who is playing, it's good luck.

It's not even actually luck. Reimer had the 8th best sv% because he was praying to God and getting encouraging tweets from Luongo in response.

But he had .941 last season. Won't happen again.

Ottawa's goaltending will be worse this season. Think Anderson will get a .941 save% again? No chance.

I agree, but on the other hand, having all their top players back will Ottawa's offence shoot 5.8% and be in the bottom 5? Not likely.

Top 5 in offence only two years ago.

Yeah...his overall numbers are pretty damn good. And he can steal games all on his own. But look at his career from one year to the next...it's a little rocky. He's far from the sure thing Sens fans assume he is.

Not really. Anahiem was another example of a team running a lucky streak last year.

Relax. They made the playoffs by 2 pts just like a bunch of other teams did. It's far from certain they'll be back this year. I could easily see them finishing 9th. I think there's much more of a possibility of that then there is them winning their division.

Where are you getting this information from? They finished 6 points or so up on 8th place. They were also tied with third seed Washington in points and were only 6 points back of the Habs and 5 behind the Bruins. Helps to know the goods before you try to sell them to someone who knows what they're dealing with.

He did it because he wanted a player that was further along in his development rather than an 18 year old. It was under the assumption that we would probably be making the playoffs and be having a pick in the 15-30 range, not 9th. Seeing as the difference between a player drafted 29th and one 20th really isn't that big, he preferred to have a more developed prospect who would ease the pain of not having a 1st in that specific year

The Leafs haven't had a #1 C since Sundin left so you'll have to excuse their fans for not understanding how important a piece it is to have out of your lineup.

Really, he's played on some poor teams, like the Panthers and still put up strong numbers.

His only really poor play is a part season in Colorado.

Why must people always use the word "Luck" when the Leafs are involved? There was no luck in making the playoffs.

Grabovski gave the Leafs zero skill last season. He was terrible.

I can't see the Habs making if this season personally. I predicted them last year corrrectly to rebound and make the playoffs. They did virtually nothing in the offseason.
