OB, about what time of year does the Junior Season end? Including playoffs? - MJL
The regular seasons end:
OHL - March 16th
QMJHL - March 15th
WHL - March 16th
The Memorial Cup is May 16 - 25 in London (Stolarz team) I think the latest any leagues playoffs could go would be May 8 or May 9.
Watching Erie vs Guelph now. |

Ditto. I am very happy with this extension, solid price and pleasantly surprised to see it took less than 4 per to keep him from reaching UFA. |

Nice extension for Read
http://flyers.nhl.com/club/blogpost.htm?id=20510 - ob18
Just saw this and I am pumped.. Fantastic guy and great player. He's got me and my gf in to meet the entire team in 2012. I won't forget his kindness and it's good to see the good karma repaid and that he will be set. Also, didn't want my Read jersey to become obsolete... hahhahaha |

I was thinking it'd be some place just north of $4 million - ob18
I thought it'd be closer to $4.5 so I'm more than happy |

Very stoked about the Read extension. Very fair deal for both sides, and the Flyers get to hang onto a very valuable player that fills a variety of roles. |

I like that the Flyers have so many mature, class guys like that. I think when you add up all of our individuals, we have one of the best and most mature locker room environments in the league. |

Nah, I'm pretty sure Homer can do no right. Why are we celebrating this? We should be criticizing him for not signing Read for 2.5! |

That leaves the Flyers with $7,314,405 of Cap space for next Season. Needing to re-sign B Schenn, Timonen or a replacement, and both Goalies or replacements.
Not counting how much the Cap goes up. |

You don't have to tell me that..LOL He's done a solid job IMHO overall. Now he's got Hexy running the minor league team and helping him out as required etc.. I think we have an awesome front office....
If we miss the playoffs again though, I still think Homer gets the axe in favour of Hexy. Just my feeling. |

It seemed the room was solid in 2011-2012, but they got schooled by NJ in the playoffs. |

If they miss the playoffs, Homer and Laviolette are toast. No doubt about it.
But Holmgren's a good GM. I do wonder how much of the bigger moves were done at the behest of Snider, especially the Bryz deal and the trading of Frick & Frack |

If you make the playoffs, you're winning. It's not always the case, but normally you don't hear much about issues in the room when a team is winning.

Squeaky tight as usual. But it's always going to be like that. And a lot can happen between now and then.

I think Laviolette would definitely be gone. But I don't see Holmgren being fired, even if they miss the playoffs.

I guess we can't know that, but if you want a GM that isn't timid to make a big move or admit when the org was wrong and move on, he's your guy.
One question I ask myself, if Homer is so bad, and the org is not solid overall, how come Vinny turned down offers from what seemed like half the league to come here.. I was shocked when he signed with us, and it really told me a lot about how the org is perceived. |
