Especially pointless considering the Pulkkinen kid was a far shot to make their squad anyway. They've got to shed 2.3 million and lose two forwards before the season starts.

The fact that Samuelsson, Bertuzzi (35+ contracts) and Cleary all have NTCs and Tootoo rakes in 1.9m per year makes that a difficult task.

Why should it be determined by what Hossa misses? Hossa didn't even play in the game. Actually 4 preseason games is fair. The kid wasn't going to play for the Wings this season and whether he is suspended for four preseason games or 4 games in the AHL.....it's pretty much the same thing.

Svedberg is a guy who I've tried to keep an eye on. A guy that big that doesn't skate like a cinderblock (ALA John Scott, Danis-Pepin, etc.)? It's an interesting skillset for sure. Doesn't look like he has much offensive upside, but he seemed relatively composed for the few minutes I watched of this first period. Hope he succeeds in Rockford.
