Again, you put more stock in what Toews has to say than all the other players they asked; and all the GM's who didn't think Luongo was worth giving much up for? Toews just threw a random name out with a shrug of his shoulders.

Also, Toews himself admits in his comment that it's based on seeing him a lot in the Western Conference, so it could have been Price, Lundqvist, etc. had he seen them more.

shhh..don't let the Blues fans know ESPN isn't a real source for hockey.
- IanEsplen

Oh I agree, but I'm not the one who brought up their stuff. If them asking a player on his way to the locker room a question that he throws out a random name for is suddenly worth mentioning, then so is their other crap.

Who's the blues goalie, I can never keep up with that carousel.

They haven't had a good goalie since, ever.

To me Lundqvist is a clear head above everyone right now, he's the best and he's been there for a long time. In the new NHL the team in front of the goalie makes a bigger difference than in the late 90's where a team could play the trap in front of a top goalie and win 1-0.

I think it's difficult to say one goalie is better than all the others. I look at it more as certain tiers or groups.

Quick, Lundqvist and Rinne are the top 3 in my opinion. Then Luongo, Niemi and Rask.

Lundqvist is the sexy choice, but he's overrated. The guy has never taken the Rangers anywhere. I'd take 3 guys over him.
- dshiddy

which 3?

The one I like was Staal's, something along the lines of I haven't played him much, but looks good on TV - Rinne.

That's like picking your favourite ice cream based on the flavour that the kid next to you is enjoying.

So Richard Brodeur was the best in the early eighties?

I will now go by King Ian

Average goalie who had a couple good years in Toronto, not St. Louis.

Quick, if you can't see any holes in the point being made; just attack the person/team making the point!
/fail

(And yes, the Blues have struggled to find a good goalie for a while now. But "since, ever"?? Guess which of our two teams has had goalies win a Vezina for it, and which team hasn't...)

Luongo has been the best goalie the past 10 years, now he's only top 10.
- dshiddy

That's (frank)ing comical. There were at least 3-4 years in which Kipper alone was better than Luo, and that's ignoring guys like Thomas, Vokoun, Backstrum etc. I'm not an idiot, I know Luo is/was world class but try to relax on the sensationalism.

Tim Thomas back is a black eye for the league.

As a Montréal fan, i absolutely cannot say Price deserves to be in the top 5.

He certainly has the potential to be there but is lack of consistency make him out of the top 5 group, even out of the top 10.

I have to say Lundqvist and Quick are clear top 2. The other one following are Rinne, Rask, Crawford, Niemi.

I consider Luongo in the same spot as Prices, except he owns more experience.

At least Toews admits his comments are based on seeing more of the west. ESPN should have admitted they only look at the east.

In a keeper league (points only) who would you keep and why...

Dougie Hamilton or Jake Gardiner?

I think it's Dougie's year to own the powerplay in Boston, A powerplay that eriksson is going to make a lot better.

Jake Gardiner is #3 on the leafs pp depth chart if Franson resigns

who else you got?

honestly, both are second pairing guys right now.

Down the road I think Hamilton has more upsdie because Rielly will always be aead of Gardiner.

I'd have to look, but aren't Chara and Dougie both RH?

two RHD on one PP, I wouldn't do that.
