Not. Gonna. Say it.

I didn't see any of the games, so I can't speak for how anyone played in this tourny, but from what I've seen in Rockford, and all I've heard and read...I'm starting to get really excited about Nordstrom. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him in Chicago at some point ths year as an injury call up.

Why Teräväinen wasn't playing? I know that he's going to be on the traning camp. Why not on the prospects tournament?

I think Mark McNeil is one of those guys who will drive us, the fan base, crazy with a slow development like many bigger guys. Remember it took Bryan Bickell a few years in the AHL before he was ready for prime time. Bickell had the advantage of low expectations which McNeill will not enjoy. McNeill does have one huge advantage over Bickell, McNeill is a gym rat, a physical speciman who played in the WHL in a man's body but with a boy's brain. McNeill needs to mature, not so much physically but mentally. The AHL is about development, the Hawks don't need McNeill for a few years so he has time to learn how to play, how to be a professional, how to maximize his talent and how to become consistant.

I noticed some aggressive plays by joe Gleason... Don't know if he's AHL material but just saying.

In other news, Bowman received a two-year extension as GM through the 17-18 season.

I am somewhat intrigued by this Bobby Shea. If he can play at this level he would be a nice element to add to our back end.

Both Shea and Gleason are non roster invitees for the Hawks camp. I wonder if one or maybe both get an AHL deal, provided they do well in camp?

Also, wasn't Gleason the undersized college defenseman used as a forward?

So he may be the second coming of Kyle Beach?

I know in the few opportunities I've seen McNeill in Rockford he didn't really stand out. I kind of thought it may be that he would need a month to adjust to the pros.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see what he does in Rockford this season.

THE BROADHURST BROTHERS

It's hard to say what the eventual upside is for Chicagoans Terry and Alex Broadhurst. But they were arguably the Hawks' best forwards throughout the tourney.

I wasn't really impressed with Terry Broadhurst at all in Rockford this past season. He's shifty and has some nice shoot out moves. Beyond that, he's 24 years old, and listed at 160 lbs. He might be a little bigger than listed, but he sure doesn't play like it, and given his age, I really wouldn't expect him to get much bigger then he already is.

In all, he looked pretty ineffective on the ice, save maybe for the man advantage or the shoot out.

Disappointing that McNeil is still getting the same kind of reviews for two years now for a guy who was almost NHL ready on draft day and was the most physically mature

LeBlanc? meh, he was more of a product of the USA/NCAA hockey marketing machine.

He was a relatively mediocre to unknown player before he won the Hobey Baker and then the hawks signed him and dubbed him another golden calf. He was injured the year before his hobey baker year and the year before that he was a run of the mil D1 player

Sounds like it. The couple of times I have seen him (other than the World Juniors) he looks lost on the ice.

Can't be the second coming of Beach. He didn't beat the tar out of some Euro-smurf.

JJ, any notions on where Viktor Svedberg going to be playing this season? Rockford or back in Sweden?

He's on an AHL contract, so my guess would be Rockford or Toledo.

Give him time, the Hawks don't need him this year or next. He really is still a kid. The AHL seperates the men from the boys. Let's see and hope he can figure out how to get his game to the next level.

Beach is a clown, McNeill hasn't shown any indication he is or will be. The step from Junior to the AHL is a big one, the step from the AHL to the NHL is a GIANT one. McNeill may or may not make it, the AHL is there to try to develop him and help him make that step. Think about what that development did for Duncan keith.

I hope that with some time in the AHL, McNeill will find himself and his game.

Many players need time in the AHL to develop. The ones who don't are named Toews, Kane, Crosby ......
