and there isnt.
so where does that put franson?
you just made my point for me. - Dozzer
so Franson isn't a shut down guy, so he's worth less?
is that your point? |

irrelevant, different type of player. don't remember anybody saying Franson was a shut down guy - bobbyisno1
what is relevant tho is franson is a third pairing d-man with some 2nd PP time.
look across the league.. guys like this dont make 3.5million.. more like 2 |

Franson can be a good player. He's certainly got the tools.
But he wasn't a key player last season. He did a good job of putting up a lot of points when given the opportunity to... and that's what's blinding a lot of people. Points seem to outweigh everything else, because it's a tangible number, while there is no stat to (reliably) show defensive ability. - Feeling Glucky?
so, do the Leafs get to the playoffs without those points Franson put up? |

my point is he is a third pairing d-man.. he falls in behind phaneuf and gardiner when it comes to point producing d-men.

nice try
kostka was brought in because gunnar was hurt and the leafs needed a stay at home guy to play with dion
once the season progressed and the rest of the league got their legs kostka didnt get played very much.. did you forget that part?
carlyle played an injured gunnar over a healthy kostka.. so yeah.. not buying that argument at all.
franson is a 5th d-man who gets a lil 2nd pairing PP time. thats not a job description that comes with a big salary.. plain and simple fact - Dozzer
has there ever been another 5th dman who led the team in scoring? (d scoring)
honest question..because I wouldnt think its possible

He's worth less to the Leafs.
Which makes it interesting.
With Liles, Gardiner and Reilly, the Leafs don't really need Franson in present or future.
Quite frankly, I'd trade the guy while his stock is high.
Although I strongly suspect that his stock is not as high with GMs as it is with Leafs fans. |

uh yeah. man.. 29 whole points .. you guys are acting like he broke records.
btw.. not one of fransons goals was a game winner.... not a single one. |

Yea, sucking it up to make millions. Such a hard thing for anyone to do. - Feeling Glucky?
it's cute how you twisted those words around because the reality is "suck it up and play for a million less" to help out a hockey franchise. |

Leafs may end up regretting not getting him locked up long term in a couple years.
Good bridge deal anyways... Ball is in Kadri's court to go earn his big $$$ - robin_steele264
I know -- what if he wins the Norris like PK. Leafs really didn't have a lot of flex to lock him up for the price he wanted. There might also a teeny bit of doubt about what he is worth long term. |

I like Franson with a real good partner better than Gardiner with a real good partner
IMHO
Gardiner is all over the place and gets caught holding his weenie way more than Franson. |

franson gardiner would get eaten alive over the course of a full season
the only reason they looked half decent was because they were playing against a slumping bergeron seguin line |

wanna know how much value i put on that?
about 20%
the leafs have plenty of guys who can score if put into the situations he was put in.. it wasnt so much his skill as the situations carlyle put him in.
put liles in those same situations and you'd get the same result. |
