Fair points. But those guys aren't can't miss NHL players. You can't overlook addressing a need, hoping that a young player may be able to fill that role.

That's true. But assuming they come to camp in a year or two and appear NHL ready, I'd hate to have to keep them in the AHL because we have veterans whose contracts cannot be hidden in the AHL.

It really is that simple -- again, Simon Gagne's a player who will likely find a way to contribute to an NHL roster this year. But Cleary can also play the right side, he can also be a good fit up and down the lineup.

I think the things Cleary does well are really useful to this team -- if Sean Couturier plays a little more...determined...with Cleary on his wing, that can only be a good thing.

Cleary's a good player, has been well coached, performs in the playoffs -- I'm really surprised at how much opposition there is to this.

I heard that rumoured today around 12:30 but I shrugged it off. I know Clemmenson went down but Thomas? I guess any press for the Panthers is good press. Maybe there will be more than 2 local reporters at their camp.

The Panthers announcers sure got a big kick out of the shootouts they had with the Flyers last year. Man did Huberdeau make that POS Bryz look stupid.

We have plenty of grit. Even giving Talbot the opportunity would have been smarter.

My only issue is the length of the deal, and what this means for our young forwards moving forward. With any sort of luck, which the Flyers are long overdue for, guys like Laughton, McGinn, and Noebels should be looking to make the jump to the NHL in the next 1-2 years. I think there may be a logjam at forward with a veteran signed to a multi-year deal with a NTC.

Well he'll have to beat out Hall at this point. I don't see the Flyers starting Rinaldo or Talbot as healthy scratches. I think his best shot is an injury to someone, honestly.

How do you know if they can fill a spot on the team if you don't give them a chance? I think Talbot is a capable 3rd line Winger, and that leaves a 4th line spot open to try and develop a young player.
