If there is one thing I don't deny about the signing is he will fit in well with the hard nosed hockey the Leafs play and Randy's style. But at over 5 million for 7 years that's just sticky. I doubt the amount of success he will have in Toronto for a few reasons. He is tougher then Dion but he usually gets it handed to him when he fights and that dropped off significantly because he started to think he was a scorer. He isn't the greatest skater. He doesn't have good vision ( his 30 goals and 16 assist will attest to that) and He never put up points like that until the Devils hired is former jr coach Deboer so I am very interested in seeing how much the familiarity of Deboer played into his success as he has never been on pace for 30 or hit 30 goals with anyone else behind the bench.

This guy is a 40 point 3rd liner at best, basically a slower Raymond who is more physical

But he knew how to piss other teams off and hit anything that moved. My main point was if that is all you are looking to get out of Clarkson you could of spent a hell of a lot less money doing so

who has 20 goals over the last 2 seasons compared to Clarksons 45. Maybe the Devils should have kept Clarkson by spending a little more

I think it should if healthy he has proven to be the better player over his career. Both contracts are risks the reason the Clarkson one is worse for me is because you now have 2 really good young players sitting out waiting to be signed because you spent all you're cap on resigning Bozak and signing Clarkson. To me it is one thing to over pay for a player when you can but totally different when you now of two guys in Franson and Kadri waiting for anything to happen. Neither player is likely to live up to the contract given I think everyone knows that but the argument here is which contract is worse.
