That would be great, but you can't expect people to turn down millions or be upset if they ask for fair deals. The fact is that they deserve to be paid like top line players. If they do want fair value then I'd hope that the term isn't too long.
Full NTC's will be a given. - Nucker101
They're not typical top line players though because they insist on signing as a pair. If they want fair value they should be willing to sign with separate teams like any other player. If they're going to continue to insist on this weird/creepy twin thing then they should be willing to give Vancouver a huge discount to keep them around. Considering that their best days are nearly behind them, they should be expecting $6M or less from the Canucks. They could threaten to test the market but how many teams are looking for 2/3 of a first line?

They'd still be the highest paid players on the team (for now), allow MG some cap wiggle room, and they retire Canucks. - noisewater
That would be a really good deal. Any more than that and they're kind of being greedy. This is a team that's done a lot to accommodate them over the years. |

Have they ever said or even been quoted as saying they wouldn't sign on separate teams?Maybe but I think other teams value them more as a duo. They have played together longer than any other duo in the league ever. Thats valuable. I don't know how you get creepy from 2 brothers wanting to play on the same team anyway. Only child probably sounds like your from the "Me" generation. I would want to play on the same team as my brothers. If you were to ask other NHL siblings in the league I am positive the would as well. |

I'm not 100% positive about this but I swear I've heard on TSN that they have a clause in their contract that only allows them to be traded together. That's kind of weird. Yes they're valuable but again, how many teams are looking for 2/3 of a first line?
For the record, I'm one of four siblings. |

Good point, definitely something both parties have to consider when negotiating. |

Well I believe they have full NTC's so they pretty much can control any type of a potential trade scenario so I'm guessing that they'd choose to go together if they even welcomed a trade down the line, and it would probably be to a team like Detroit. |

True. Thats a tough sell and if you already have 2 1st liners what do you do? |

I think you are right but I would like to think that canucks management is smart enough to know that the Sedins build NHLers. BTW whats with FA saying the Sedins are close? Who is really pulling the strings? I have a raging clue right now! |

Numbers do not matter. These guys will not only have their numbers in the rafters, they will have HOF numbers and have streets named after them. |

The Sedin's are not gonna take a pay cut, not a chance they sign for 4.5 or 4.75 or whatever nucks fans hope they will go for. Both guys have had 100 pts seasons and are over a ppg since they signed their last deal (6.1 mil). My guess is it's gonna take close to 7 mil to lock these guys up. 4 years @ 6.75 per |

This would be good for Vancouver to get them wrapped up for the rest of their careers. I'd give them both 8 years at 6M each. This gives them both more than enough money to live on and allows Vancouver flexibility to add free agents over the course of their contracts. The twins have been nothing but class acts and will be able to maintain high point totals until their late 30's.
Good for them and good for Vancouver to get this done now. Next is to fix the D.... |

I see something like this. Front load the deal as much as possible. I believe there can be 20% variance. |
