Assuming they're both healthy, would you have him ahead of MAB on the depth chart?
- jmatchett383

I wouldn't have Gervais ahead of Lauridson or MAB. Gervais is like an infectious disease on defense. Whoever he's paired with, he drags them down to his level. He's like a reverse Timonen.

I'm sure you're a responsible adult and dont behave that way, but I bet pele said something similar on nov 10 1985 also.

So I suppose we should just outlaw the sale of alcohol because SOME people dont think they should take a cab home or shouldnt fight because they cant handle their alcohol. Its the risk you take, you should know what your getting into when you go to any place that serves alcohol. This world will always have stupid people that will find a way to ruin everything.

There are people who can be reasonable and enjoy some drinks responsibly. Unfortunately, there are too many frat boys/bros at games who can't.

I think he was just saying that some people aren't able to know their own limits/handle themselves. I don't think he was pushing for prohibition.

Edit: However, if you're over the legal drinking limit and operating a motor vehicle, you should have your license suspended no questions asked for 2 years minimum.

I don't even know what you guys are arguing over. I have never been to Xfinity Live and I don't think I will ever go. I would much rather enjoy watching a game at my house, on my comfortable sofa, in front of my flat screen, with a few friends, drinking reasonably priced beer and ordering reasonably priced, yet, tasty food.

I know. He's was the worst player on the team by a wide margin. Even his saber-metrics say he was the worst.

I'm not trying to be preachy, and I'm definetly not a neo prohibitionist. The argument that a few peoples stupidity are going to ruin it for everyone doesn't work when you have a few drinks too many but feel ok and then crash your car and ruin lives.

No, it's not the bar scene. There are people who take their kids. There are people who take their 60/70-year-old parents. There are people with their grandkids. There are youth-groups that having family nights. A majority of people might be attending games that are in the "bar scene" demographic, but it is not acceptable to behave at a sporting event the same way it is at a bar.

Oh, look at you being all high and mighty, with your "flat screen" and your "sofa." I bet you like drinking out of clean glasses and eating off of clean plates too, don't ya? DON'T YA!?

Funny/sad story. I was walking back to my car 2 years ago, and a kid (~20 maybe) was walking with a girl, obviously trying to impress her with how "cool" he was. He was talking about how he usually has to wait after Phillies games, so he "keeps a 6-pack of beer in his trunk so he can drink them while he's waiting to get out of the parking lot." That guy should not be allowed to drive.

Thats why I pre-game at home, take the train to the city and take the train back home. Works for me!!

That's awesome, that's very responsible. I'm not saying they should outlaw beer at games. I don't drink, but I've never had a problem with it. Sadly, no matter where you go, there will be a handful of people who go over the limit and aren't responsible. That's not a reason to stop serving alcohol though, you just have to hope that as few people as possible are making bad decisions.

It does bother me when people get out of hand at games. I don't have kids, but I do feel bad for the people who don't want their kids to be exposed to it.

The closer you sit to the ice, the less chaotic the fans are. That's pretty much true in all sports.

Another alternative is to purchase tickets to matinees on the weekend. That's usually the most 'family type' atmosphere you'll find.

For those who want to take the family out to dinner before the game, there are plenty of restaurants in South Philly that are not filled with loud drunks. I wouldn't step foot in Xfinity Live with anyone under 18 or over 60.

I had a horrible experience in a club box (only time I've been in one) that was far worse than anything I've seen in my 211 Row15 (top row) seats.

We sat in row 2. There was a mom, dad, and 2 kids in the 1st row. Dad spent about 95% of the game a the bar, and mom (who I think was on pills) passed out about 5 minutes after the opening faceoff. The kids (MAYBE 8) were just getting up and running around the stadium. After mom threw up all over the place after the second intermission they left. But they weren't the worst...

Two "bros", if you will, sat down about halfway through the first in the row behind us, CLEARLY f'ed up. They were playing the Maple Leafs, and the guy behind me screamed out "GO HOME MOOSE F---ERS!" I though it was funny, so I laughed, the first time. unfortunately, he turned it into a chant, just him. I'm talking 20+ times in a row. Finally, a guy from one of the top rows in the 100s level screamed at him to stop since he was there with his kids. The guy above me then threatened to "Kick the s--t out of him." After security threatened him, he calmed down....wait, still going...

With about 1/2 minute left, the Flyers were up 3-1, and I hear this guy (who was arguing that, when up 2 goals, you should just kill off your own power plays) say, "I'm standing up for the rest of this mother f---er" and then I feel the beer dump all over me. I was there on my STH plan, so if I hit him (thank God my wife grabbed me), I would likely lose my season tickets.

Just 1 experience, but I so wish I'd stayed up high.

Yeah, I like that they serve alcohol at games, but you shouldnt get out of hand. People should be thrown out more often for behaving like an bumhole. But on that note. If your a philly sports fan.... you should know not to take your family to any playoff games. They get intense. So that to me is the parents responsibilty to keep their kids and wives away from that atmosphere. Not the drunks. You cant stop the drunks, but a smart parent can prevent any discomfort to their family.

Playoff games do get intense, and I think a parent can bring a kid to a playoff game (there's no reason kids should be denied that), with the understanding that it will be intense. I attended quite a few as young as 11 and never had a problem.

Again, there's a responsible way to drink and an non-responsible way to drink. There's having fun and letting loose, and there's being a drunken wiener. Like you said, the ones who can't control themselves should be tossed.

The problem I have is the people who get loaded then drive home. This may be unpopular, but I wish more cops would basically just sit right outside of bars and pull over every 3rd person leaving.
